LOL@ Michigan State (new OC)

He wasn't hired as the OC. MSU hasn't announced anything, and the sources said that he is joining the staff but not sure in what capacity. The rumblings are that he will be Co-OC along with Dave Warner and will coach the TEs and help with gameplanning, while Warner will do most of the playcalling on gameday.

I don't understand why you guys are OK with this. Just because the guy that is consensus bad will not be calling plays doesn't mean you guys should be happy. He's a coach released from his past 3 jobs and even if you want him for recruiting, you already recruit decently in Ohio and he doesn't recruit. In the hypothetical scenario he did, I don't know who Bollman is going to recruit that Dantonio or one of his guys couldn't already from the Ohio area.

I'm not bashing MSU, just saying you might as well hire a guy that at least adds to your recruiting or coaching. Bollman does neither. And you guys are defending him saying "He's just going to be our oline coach." Fine, he's your oline coach, but aren't you guys pissed at Dantonio for not hiring an oline coach that actually adds something? How about a guy with connections in a state like California or Florida or Texas? Maybe a guy that can actually get Caleb Benenoch and Pat Kugler to visit campus? That might be a good direction for the offensive line at MSU. Aren't you pissed at Hollis for not allowing Dantonio to court a "coordinator" that isn't met with laughs by literally everyone and was released from his last 3 jobs?

If you're happy with him, fine. I just think when all the other Big Ten fans are this happy, it probably means something shrug

I think you have to look at it from an MSU perspective. couple of things I dont' expect you guys to understand, and that's fine, but The amount of trolling on this subject is semi bizaar. If he's bad, so be it, be happy abou that. But just look at what we see at MSU: When he was here, he started building up a program, under Saban, that ws in the muck for about 3 or 4 years. We could see the improvement. Many of us were disapointed he went to the NFL because we saw improvement. (I understand what you guys saw may be the opposite.) When he returned to coach against us, I personally was bummed out. OSU then took off, and even won a NC with him and Dantonio, two coaches that were popular and, at the time, innovative in approach to coaching posititons. That's what we saw at MSU. Then, loosely following his career, we see that Tress, a very good coach, kept him on for quite awhile, and who can argue with the success he had there under tress. Now you guys tell us, he was only responsible for the 6-7 season, not the successful ones. O.K., we can see that from your point of view, but I personally find it a bit weird. He didn't do crap, when you were winning, but he sucked balls because he was in the mix when you had your horrible season with all the suspensions.

We're looking at it from two perspectives. I will never understand the non coaches here who think Tressel had this conservative offense with all the great recievers and complicated formations and passes out of the backfield. Tress kicked peoples asses because of some great offense. When you go from great success to a horrible season, I can see looking at coaches and hearing stories of coaches arguing in lockerrooms and placing blame. It's what we do. I also think Dantonio isn't a stupid man. To do what he did at MSU in 6 years is remarkable in my opinion. I'm not saying he's made us a dominant taeam in the big ten, but anyone who knows MSU, and what you guys did to us in JLS last year, knows that he's done as much or more then Saban ever did here. He needs to prove this next year, as last year was a step back. That's why every time you think Dantonio has made a bad move or has taken the gas pipe, he seems to be a step ahead of us all with a "little giants' or a "mouse trap" or that damn fake punt against Michigan last year that should have made us both 7-4.

I understand your view point, but as a Spartan who has suffered our football program way more then I've enjoyed it in the last 40 years, you need to see what many of us are seeing too.

We'll have to live with that. I like what Dantonio is doing. I trust him. You disagree. I see your screen name here. I won't get into a flame war. If it goes south, we'll know damn quick. I can read how much venom OSU has towards him. It's understood. Now you can keep going on about it, but after your zillionth post and visiting the RCMB and posting there. We really get where you stand. Seriously, we do.

A good analogy would be Tommy Amaker.

Great coach, but if you ask Wolverine fans they aren't going to say anything good about him.

  • The only thing bollman flipping is his pancakes

The last thing I have to worry about is Michigan state flipping our recruits. You won't be singing the same tune after you start battling the directional Michigander for recruits

Thanks for the good laughs homers

  • Confirmed by Hazell that he's coming to MSU, but still no official announcement from MSU as to what capacity.

Inside info says he's not gonna be calling plays, he'll be TE coach (coached TEs in the NFL too, I believe) and help coordinate the running game.

  • I am a bit surprised that Bollman hasn't officially retired. There were credible rumors back in 2009 and again in 2010. There has got to be more to this...... maybe Dino has it worked out that his role will be limited to recruiting and supervising the blocking sleds shrug

He's a good guy. Really hates Bollman, going back..... can't say I blame him.

I would be more worried about "who" he is prepping than the where and how blank

  • Just so you MSU people understand the level of distaste for Bollman, there were more than 100 fire Bollman threads BEFORE he took over as Off Co in that awful season. He was universally despised by us even before he decided that running the ball up the middle on every play was the way to go. He is turrible.
