Pretty simple: UF played UGA for it's side of it's conference title and lost, 17-9. Given we have no better system, the playoffs are each week. By losing to UGA, UF eliminated itself from national title contention.
There is an undefeated team currently ahead of the two teams that are playing for the SECCG. Given UGA beat UF, and Alabama won it's side of the conference, the winner of the SECCG will play the undefeated team for the national title. UF had it's chance when it played UGA, and lost.

Guy should probably not talk
Since UF has a better record and SOS then Bama nad UGA combined,
so our path to the BCS game was through... 4 top 10 teamsTexas AnM (who Bama couldn't beat)
LSU (who UGA didn't have to play)
South Carolina (who smoked UGA)
and FSUI'd say we deserve a BCS game
