Yes I understand. I can't think of many Alabama fans that care about any BCS bowl other than the championship game. Who wants to play for anything but #1? Oh yeah.....teams with no shot.

His comments are especially laughable considering bammer made it to the BCS championship game last year without winning the west. Of course, Saban has always had one set of standards for himself and another set of standards for other people

But I guess here's his point: The idea last year was that, while Alabama may not have been better than LSU (since we obviously lost during the regular season), that didn't mean we didn't deserve a shot to play them again in the BCSCG because we could still have been the second best team in the country, obviously second only to LSU. If Georgia beats Alabama, one could easily make the argument that UF is the second best team in the SEC (behind UGA) and give them the BCS bowl berth. I think his reasoning is that, if Alabama wins and goes to the BCSCG, the only thing we KNOW from all of the head-to-head matchups is that Bama > UGA > UF. It's one thing to jump Bama after a UGA victory, especially since UF and Bama didn't play eachother, but how could you call UF the SEC #2 if Bama wins over UGA, a team that beat them? Much different than calling Bama #2 after LSU being #1 last season.

In summary, if UGA wins, UF is SEC #2. If Bama wins, how can you not call the SEC East rep the #2 SEC team?

I'd love to be talking about us playing for it all. But Gorja beat and ND went undefeated, so that's outta the question. So right now, I'm happy to have a BCS bowl to look forward to in year two of Muschamp's regime. Sort of reminds me of y'all in '08 minus winning our division and the threat of mighty Utah.

I'm just saying 3 Bama guys get on the thread and talk about how Florida blew their chance at the national title
when that isn't what the thread was about.

The thread was about how Saban said UF shouldn't go to a BCS game because they aren't in the SEC championship game

Which is why people a lol'ing at him because Bama ended up in the national title and didn't even go to the SEC champinship game

I see what you're saying. But the same system that allowed y'all to play for it all last year will be the reason the SECCG loser gets left outta the four BCS bowls.

Well that's only because the only for-sure SEC BCS bid is if the SEC champ DOESN'T go to the BCSCG, right? Otherwise that spot just becomes a pick, right?

  • Honestly, I don't care. It doesn't really matter if you aren't playing for it all. Truth be told, we will likely play a better opponent in the Citrus bowl than half the teams playing in a BCS bowl...that's if we lose of course.

No one believes UF would beat Alabama. Your SOS is good because FSU is over inflated as usual. Alabama is going to the SEC championship game. Whoever wins that game is going to the national title game. The Gators are playing for #2. You might wanna wrap your head around that.

Read your last post, and it doesn't matter really we are ranked #4 no matter what happens we will either move up a spot or stay the same and the top 4 teams in the BCS get an automatic birth.

The point is, Nick shouldn't be complaining after last year, plain and simple

This makes a lot of sense. UGA would have more of a gripe than we would. They beat UF and won the division but would get skipped over in favor of UF just because they had to play Bama and UF didn't. It has happened before (Kansas-Mizzou 07 comes to mind) and it's just a bad situation.

We wouldn't have much of a gripe though considering UF's SOS, IYAM. Saban probably should've just left that one alone.

I'm not sure I understand your point. If UGA wins, UF is SEC #2 just like we were last year. If Bama wins, UF is SEC #3 behind UGA because of the head-to-head, though that has no bearing on how the BCS will handle things since we would go to the BCSCG.

I have no idea what Saban said 'cause I didn't read the article. I'm just going off of our discussion.

meh, not really cause we lost to Scar who would be below us with the same record and a harder schedule by way of LSU > Ole Miss. It's not gonna make sense other than the system is in place and everyone knows what they are getting into at the beginning of the year. Just let it play out.

I guarantee you you wont see Richt pulling that whiny baby crap at the end of the year. Like him or not, he's no whiny botch (i.e. Spurrier).

If you are ranked in the top 4 in the BCS standings you get an automatic at large bud into a BCS game (ie. Sugar Fiesta)

UF is currently ranked #4 in the BCS
    Bama plays UGA Saturday
I would expect the looser to drop a spot or two since UF and Oregon are idle
So UF has essentially secured themselves a spot in a BCS game regaurdless of who wins on Saturday
