I think he was part of the reason why we were put on probation. (Him and McCartney) Someone please correct me if I am wrong on that. Hell of a recruiter not so much at coaching RB's unless you like the hot RB not getting any touches after destroying people.

That's the only reason to hire him, but it's a great reason. Porter won recruiter of the year at least once, maybe twice at LSU. Was LSU's point man in east Texas when they were landing elite recruits Loston, Sheppard, and Tolliver just to name a few. I'm sure he has good connections in NOLA too. Was in on the Seastrunk fiasco, but don't know whatever came out of it as far as LSU goes.
