LSU wins the SEC championship

Bama won't be going to the NC game. I am one of the people that believe if you don't win your conference, why should you play in the NC game? Hell, Bama won't even win its division. Stanford will more than likely face LSU, and if Geno Smith threw for over 450 yards on LSU I can't wait to see what Andrew Luck does.

I think it would be a fantastic championship game.

I like the matchup myself. I don't see a rematch because Bama didn't win their conference or their division and lost to the team that did on their own home field. Stanford would be exciting to watch.

Let's see how the Heisman winner does against that defense?

Bama is as high in the polls as they will get. Once Auburn is crushed, there will be no springs left on Bama's schedule. Georgia 35 - Auburn 3!

Personally, I believe they are. However, the LSU having to play the SECCG and THEN play Alabama is highly unfair to them. If the SECCG weren't in the equation, I think it'd be a perfectly viable scenario. Why should LSU be penalized by having to put the wear and tear of one more game on their guys just because they went into Tuscaloosa and beat Bama? That's freaking ridiculous.

If LSU can just be awarded the SECC, then it is fair to play Bama again in the national title game.

That get a month after the SECCG...you act like that and the BCSNG occur in back to back weeks.

it is all about the best 2 teams playing for it. If OU beats OSU, and Oregon beats Stanford....who do you think should go? Please don't say Boise.

I agree it would suck for LSU....and if Bama would have won I def wouldn't have wanted to play LSU twice. It is still about getting it right in the end.....also, LSU hasn't beaten Arky yet......

Don't blame us, blame the voters. They screwed USC, we had no hand in it.

Blame the computers. Both human polls had USC at #1.

I don't know that this year is the best scenario for it, but I don't have a problem with it.

For example....what if LSU had lost to Oregon and West Virginia by a close margin in both games, yet beat Alabama and went 8-0 in the conference and beat a 10-2 or 9-3 Georgia team to win the SEC.

Then what if Alabama's only loss was in OT to LSU.

And then what if there was only one undefeated team?

For example...let's say the top 5 were:

    1. undefeated Oklahoma St,
    2. undefeated Oregon,
    3. undefeated Stanford,
    4. Alabama,
    5. Oklahoma

Then what if OSU losses to Oklahoma and Oregon beats Stanford? Isn't is possible to finish:

    1. 12-0 Oregon
    2. 11-1 Alabama,
    3. 11-1 Oklahoma
    4. 11-1 Stanford?

After all, Alabama's loss was in OT to LSU and Oklahoma's was to Texas Tech.

To me, it's just a matter of time before it makes total sense that some team that isn't the champion of their conference deserves to at least be #2 and go to the BCS title game.

  • If LSU and Bama have a rematch and there is any other one loss BCS team or an undefeated non AQ, it's unfair. It is unfair to LSU and fans everywhere outside of Alabama. Bama got LSU at home and lost. IMHO, they should be done, unless LSU loses twice. Even if everyone is convinced that they are #2, there isn't enough evidence as to who's number one to justify passing over other teams. I would rather have LSU beat someone by 55 in the MNC than see a competitive game between them and Alabama.

    Chris Swanson

  • Also, it's not as if LSU will have to play some juggernaut in the SEC Championship. If they had to beat lets say a top 5 or top 10 team, it would be pretty unfair. But let's face it, sure playing an extra game does bring about the risk of another loss, but it would be considered epic if LSU were to lose...

So, if somehow Arky were to knock off LSU (not likely but Petrino does seem to match up good with Miles), you still don't think Bama would deserve a shot?

What you stated makes no sense....if there is another 1 loss BCS team they should go? So, you think a 1 loss Oregon....or a 1 loss OU (whose losses were both worse) would deserve to go?

It is my opinion that any 1 loss NC is somewhat tainted. Its just the nature of the beast with how CFB is set-up. However, as things stand now, Alabama would definitely be the most deserving 1 loss team.

I don't know how the tiebreaker works if there our 3 teams tied atop the SEC west. If LSU and Bama where the only two with one loss, I would take LSU. If there are 3, I don't know how you choose.

I would take a 1 loss Stanford, Oregon, Oklahoma, OK State, Clemson, or Va Tech over Bama. There is no evidence that any of those teams are worse than Alabama, so they should get their shot. As for Oregon, I would pick them because they would have won 12 straight since they lost to LSU. They are better no then they where then. De'Anthony Thomas is a threat now, not a liability. If he didn't fumble two kickoffs, that game might have been very different. I would be more entertained by that rematch than watching an SEC West championship game.

This is the same argument that Michigan fans made after their 2006 loss to Ohio State. The media stated that we already knew who the best two teams where and their should be a rematch. Both teams got smoked in their BCS games. LSU vs. a random BCS conference champion will tell us more about where these teams should be ranked than LSU-Bama II.

What about all the teams like Notre Dame that doesn't have a Conference championship game? They will walk right in the game well rested.
Explain what happens if they go 12-0?????
    They don't deserve it?

Oky State has no conference championship game this year neither.
And just cause your in the same confernce doesn't mean your not the 2nd best team.

It must suck to know you rolled Tomers corner and Bama still has a SMALL chance to get to the National Championship in which we won't get cause OKY State will win out.
But it is nice to know that people Respect Bama THAT Much.

  • This whole rematch talk is a little premature right now, can we at least wait until Stanford loses to Oregon or ND and OK State loses to Oklahoma? It is funny to hear Auburn fans cry about how unfair this would be, we all know why they don't want this happen. They know the best two teams are LSU and Bama, with Bama probably the only team in the country with a reasonable chance of beating LSU.

The idea of the BCS is to match the two best teams in the country, the two teams with the best resumes or body of work throughout the whole season. It shouldn't matter whether they are in the same conference or have played each other. I don't know if Bama deserves a rematch or not, but we shouldn't be penalized just because LSU is in the same conference. I would say the same if LSU lost. I sure as hell wouldn't want to play them again, but they would deserve to go to the title game over a one loss Stanford, Ok St, or OU.

blame goes around, but we didn't have anything to do with it was my point.

We shouldn't have been in that game but we didn't get our asses kicked. We were down 21-14 and driving with minutes to play. I wonder what would have happened if USC and LSU would have played. USC prob wins by 10 against LSU. 2003-2004 USC was prob the greatest assembly of talent in college football in the last 20 years.

Fortunately, it is not all about what YOU want to see. The BCS is about getting it right in the end with the top 2 teams playing for it all. How you could justify Oregon getting a rematch, but not Bama is baffling. Clemson? Va Tech? Are you serious? So, you would rather watch a mud hole stomping in the NC game, rather than 2 teams who fought to an OT finish? I'm glad you don't have a vote. No offense.

There is a lot of football left to play. Alabama may get caught napping against Miss St or AU. LSU has been the consensus #1 for the majority of the year. Bama most certainly proved that they could easily be #2, regardless of what you want to see. If all of those teams ended up with one loss, none of the others would have the resume of Alabama.
