Lane Kiffin will be an All Timer.....

  • I was one of the few that counted him genius when he left Tennessee and I've said what's in the headline a few times in the last 12 months on here but wanted to say it again. He'll be an All timer. His only downside will be his insatiable vanity that will lead him to the NFL for 4-6 seasons before returning to CFB again IYAM

USC's 2013 class will be sick, yes. 2014 will be extremely good. Then they'll sign around 32-34 in 2015 and it will be the most ridiculous thing anyone has ever seen.

There isn't a rival in the PAC12 that can match them, Oregon is hanging with right now due to an amazing system but it will begin losing out to their superiority in the trenches with regularity.

USC's going to average right at 12 wins a year while he's there, the entire time he's there. I got the priviledge to work for him for the year he was at UTk. He's 95% of what Saban became in his 60s and Lane is in his late 30s.

Lane has already proven to us that he truly loves USC...and Layla loves Southern California and Manhattan Beach, where they lived for six years when Lane was at USC the first time.

I think any good coach that finds success in college would be tempted by the NFL...but I think he'll be with us for a while.

He made us believers last season, and he'll get everything he asks for to win, and Pat Haden will make sure it's the right way.

Agreed, but I'm not sure if 2015 can surpass what is going on now. I guess time will tell.

IMO, it will be Kiffin and Sark/Tosh battling in the PAC. Chip is getting his a** handed to him on the trail, and his dislike for recruiting will make it worse if he doesn't lock up the north with UW rising. That system was awesome for a few years, but it's the Jim's and the Joe's.

Blame that crazy old man..the crypt keeper...he was dead long before he actually passed. He's the reason that franchise is in the gutter....Lane wanted to draft Calvin Johnson, the evil one demanded Jamarcus with the 10 cent brain.

He can clearly recruit, but I'm not sold on him as a HC. Raiders didn't go so well. UT was a one year gig and he only won 7. And in his first two years at USC, before any scholly reductions hit, he went 8-5 and 10-2. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's not exactly the USC I remember under Pete Carroll.

IMO LK's too offensive oriented. The most successful college HCs have been defensive coaches at heart and I don't see that in LK. He has his dad to handle that side of the ball for now, but Montee won't be around forever. And USC won last year with offense not defense. The defense paled in comparison to the ones Petey regularly put on the field just a few years earlier. When LK puts a top 10 defense on the field (and with the talent he has access to, there's no reason he shouldn't), then I will become a believer. But I think it's very likely LK is more of a Bobby Petrino than a Nick Saban.

The defense was wearing diapers last season. They wear big boy pants now.

Maybe. But I want to see it on the field.

Edit: FWIW as far as LK possibly being too "offensive oriented", here's one example. Scholly reductions started with the 2012 class. According to 247, 9 of the 15 players USC signed in that class were on the offensive side of the ball. In the 2013 class, which also will be limited in size, 8 of the 13 verbal commits USC has so far are on offense. Maybe that's just how the needs have worked out in these classes, but it looks like LK might be one of those coaches who has a hard time passing up elite offensive talent even if that means less room for players on defense.

Russel was a bust, for sure, but the wr position doesnt win super bowls.

Ask Fitz, Steve Smith, Andre Johnson, Randy Moss, or even Calvin Johnson.

Name Fitz's QB last season. Now look at his numbers. You think Eli was the reason the Giants won or was it because of some insane receptions by the WR's?

Nah seriously thought I think if JMAC would have went to a stable franchise in the late first like he was supposed to then I still think he’d be in the league. I’m not sure if he would have ever reached his potential but I think he would have at least been as good as Joe Flacco (sp?).
