  • Are you guys buying the talk that Max Garcia to Florida helps UGA with Tunsil?

  • I hope so since it looks like FSU will not get him

Good players don't mind competition, so I doubt it. I was thinking we were a lot closer than most was given us credit for. I could be wrong though.

Your = you are. Stupid. You're is possessive hence the apostrophe. Duh. Ro' Tide!

    SmithDawg48

  • Seems plausible. Tunsil has talked of depth chart as a factor in his his decision, so it would be a safe assumption that UF adding Garcia would help UGA....

  • How much eligibility does Garcia have left?

He will be a redshirt Sophmore after sitting out this year.

  • I think this leaves the door ajar but I still expect him to end up a Gator. It's not like Garcia was a standout for Maryland, it's D.J. Humphries I would be more worried about.

Hey Trojans, LSU's 74 are better than your 75.

    UChucky161861

  • I don't think so. UF will only have Humphries, Green, and now Garcia at tackle. He could still come in and play some as a freshman and maybe get into the rotation more as a sophomore. But like U-Chucky said, I think Humphries so the one that could effect his decision more that Garcia. Still think he is a gator in the end though.

Tell that to your boy Dante Fowler Jr, he must have missed the memo.

Did he say that's why he switched ? If so nice reply

  • I could see Tunsil at RT and Humphries at LT for Florida if he ends up with the Gators. Those could potentially be pretty good book-ends, huh? Same with Theus and Tunsil at UGA, but flip them.

Should be interesting to see what happens. Great responses and discussion here.

  • Garcia will have a leg up over Tunsil and will be eligible when LT comes in. Add DJ Humphries to that and he's looking at 2 starters at Tackle for most of his career.

Many guys like a little competition, few guys like a lot of competition.

Im not sure if he actually came out and said it, but the general consensus seems to be that he switched to UF because FSU was too deep at DE and had Casher and Edwards coming in to boot.

I think he felt he could get more playing time at UF, which to me translates to he felt the competition would be easier and he could get on the field more.

That is what he supposedly told Mario Edwards Jr who was trying to keep him from flipping, something about our depth chart and felt he couldn't see the feild as early as he would at UF... but who really knows

Garcia will slide inside if Chaz Green stays so Tunsil won't be staring at that much comp at the tackle spot.

  • When/if Tunsil chooses UF, this is what OT looks like.

DJ Humphries - Either RS Fresh or true sophmore

Chaz Green - Sophmore this year, junior when Tunsil arrives. Best tackle on the team imo

Matt Patchan - Junior this year, senior Tunsil's freshmen year

Max Garcia - RS Junior when Tunsil arrives

Tunsil.. Needs a RS anyways. Kids lower body is tiny compared to the rest of him. By time he's a RS fresh, he'd be one of Four OT's on the team with two being seniors. Pretty sure one of the other Ol's in our class this year is an OT as well. Rod Johnson is 6'6 290 right now with tons of upside. He could be the future RT. I'd love to have him, but we're in pretty dang good shape at tackle moving forward.

DJ Humphries is the best HS OL I"ve seen in a long time. Even he shouldn't expect to start this year and maybe not next year. This is what's wrong with these recruits who's ego's are stroked by grown men day after day telling them they're the second coming. Tunsil is going to go to a school that he thinks he can start at as a true freshmen. OL's in the SEC generally aren't ready to start until their third year, second for a talent like DJ and Dunker. If they're good enough, they should have a decent backup role their second year, then start their last two years.

I know it looks like FSU is out of it, but I doubt they are. Depending on how their OL class unfolds, they could be his best option for what he's looking for by the time he finally decides, which isn't until NSD apparently. I know folks close to Tunsil are saying he'll be a Gator in the end, mainly because his mother works at Shands/UF and he's very close with Bryant Young. I don't really see it that way because I think we'll have atleast four, and probably five OL's commited by NSD. He ain't bout dat.

  • As was already mentioned, I could easily see Garcia moved inside. UGA will have just as many OL commits as UF does by the time Tunsil makes his decision so things will even out.

Fowler did not switch to FSU solely because of depth chart. That may have been one of the reasons, but there were many, many more.

One of them was Jason Higdon and hollywood blob feeding him BS about FSU like they have done in the past for other recruiting battles between FSU and uf. The difference is that other recruits are smarter than Dante and filter out the BS they were being fed.

hahaha you actually believed that stuff that TN posted, nice

TN has made more stories up than he's legitimately reported on.

I can't stand Higdon, but the conspiracy theory nonsense is ridiculous. Fowler is one of the smarter football players you'll find, so if anything he'd be the last to fall into BS propaganda by a recruiting reporter.

Fowler's dad was completely behind him switching to UF and was a major catalyst in it happening despite what is claimed in TN's story. He was pissed about FSU's staff lying to him and his son. Believe what you want though.

Off the top of my head, reasons Fowler chose UF (Edit: besides a more favorable depth chart which was already mentioned) :

    1. Catching FSU's staff in lies 3 times
    2. Best friends Matt Jones and Evan Holmes at UF
    3. His relationship with Muschamp >>> his relationship with Fisher
    4. Felt he fit the hybrid Buck position better than DE in a 4-3
    5. Muschamp relentlessly recruiting him, while Fisher barely talked to him. Did Fisher think he was locked up? Who knows, but regardless you can never assume that in recruiting and must continue to build relationships.
    6. Liked the idea of playing for a defensive minded head coach
    7. Confident in Dan Quinn's ability to prepare him for the NFL

    ....

    But most importantly:

    8. Jason Higdon and Bob Redman telling him FSU sucked and he should never go there.

    C'mon son.

And what exactly did our coaches lie to him about. Our coaches tell every recruit no matter how good you are out of high school that you have to earn your way on the field. Most recruits have said that in articles about our coaches, and have never said once that they have lied so that is a bunch of BS coming from the florida side of things. It is all good though because hopefully Fowler never gets a win in his three-five years against FSU.
