Sure it does. USC fans point to playing BCS level teams in OOC play, but fail to point out that last year those teams were Minnesota (who lost to a FCS team and New Mexico St), Syracuse (1-6 in the Big East), and Notre Dame (unranked). This year's schedule is Hawaii, Syracuse, and Notre Dame. 2013 is Hawaii, BC, Utah St, and Notre Dame.

The deception is amazing. That is 3 consecutive years without an OOC game vs a probable ranked team.

..... Comedy coming from a Bama fan whose team plays
Western Kentucky, D1aa Western Carolina, & Florida Atlantic,
and only plays 4 road games this year.

& Bama played North Texas, Kent St. and D1aa G.Southern last year
Duke, San Jose St, and D1aa Georgia State in 2010
Florida International, North Texas and D1aa Chattanooga in 2009.
    etc, etc, etc.

The OOC schedule USC has played over the last decade
is so much tougher than Alabama's
that USC could schedule the next 10 years in a row
playing nothing but D1aa teams at home in OOC
and Alabama still wouldn't catch up to USC's SOS.

ARE YOU FOR REAL? With this comment- "The deception is amazing"

You want pathetic deception - Here it is.....
Alabama went on the road last year and won @Penn St (9-4)
The year before that they won on the road at mighty Duke (3-9).

Besides those 2 games, you have to go all the way back to 2003
before you will find Alabama playing a single road game in OOC.
They played at Hawaii in 2003, and they lost.

Most pathetic of all is you have to go all the way back to 1989,
for Alabama to do what they did last year
(which is to beat a BCS AQ Conference team on the road that had a winning record.

    Bama's done it 2 times since 1989
    1989-- 17-16 win @ Penn St (8-3-1)
    2011--- 27-11 win @Penn St (9-4)

2 freakin times in 23 years Aaahhhaaa--
    that sure is some
    SOS-LOL

The thing is that majority of SEC fans always trash Boise and smaller teams to "play with the big boys" but when they schedule them those teams all of a sudden get better. Its quite the phenomenon. Also picking on Utah State when they should've beaten Auburn last yr if Auburn didn't get EXTREMELY lucky.

Notre Dame would've STOMPED Penn State for sure. I am not knocking you but you're speculations are pretty off and sound majorly biased. Bama had a cakewalk of a schedule last yr and had their hardest game at home. Pac 12 ALWAYS schedules tough every yr...and more than any conf. and thats coming from a Buckeye. Our sched this yr is a joke.....calling a spade a spade..ya dig?

What about Hawaii, Syracuse, and Notre dame is tough?

Or Hawaii, BC, Utah St, and Notre Dame?

Do honestly think tOSU would have a problem in any of those games?

If you think that Penn St, who went 6-2 in the B1G and was a game away from playing in the B1GCG was worse than a Notre Dame team that lost to a USF team that went 1-6 in the Big East, that is your right.

Notre Dame's schedule this year is tough. Last year it was not.

Notre Dame was wayyy more solid than Penn State across the board. Penn State wasn't very good at all they barely beat Temple at home. Last yr tOSU "Might" have had trouble with some of those teams due to the circumstances. This yr. not a chance. Either way you can't knock Pac 12 scheduling.

Again, I was never beating a tough OOC SOS schedule drum like the USC poster was.

Last year: Minnesota (lost to a FCS team and New Mexico St), Syracuse (1-6 in the Big East), and Notre Dame (irrelevant).

This year: Syracuse, Hawaii, and Notre Dame.

Next year: Hawaii, BC, Utah St, and Notre Dame.

None of those are games to be celebrated, except for the fact that Notre Dame is a rivalry game. They kept playing you guys when you sucked, so now you are still playing them when they suck. I get it.

I do know that last year, Alabama played teams that had won 7 BCS titles in the last 10 years, while USC played 0. In fact, I think the only team in the PAC12 that did play a team that had won a BCS title in the past 10 years is Oregon when the PAC 12 Champion got beat for the 2nd straight year by the team that won the SEC.

Keep banging that drum, but wake me up when it counts for something.

Exactly. tOSU would have no problem with those games.

I also agree about last year. A 6-7 tOSU team might have had a problem with Notre Dame. If they play at the end of the year, tOSU would have won, IMO.

Personally, I don't think a team that finished tied for 2nd in the B1G would have lost to a team that finished tied for last in the Big East. People can point to games that you struggle to win, but the games were won.

USC, a team that was a legit top 10 team last year, beat Minnesota, who lost to a FCS team, by 2 points. Doesn't matter. They won the game.

I guess what irked me more is that it was an OSU fan saying that PSU was basically trash last year and cited the Temple game... but you will never hear from him that OSU lost to PSU at home and really was a piss poor team.

If you admit to watering it down, then don't tell me how tough it is. I am a USC fan and cheer for them actually, but I wouldn't want a free pass for an incident my University's boosters, coaches, or players created themselves.

Our OOC is a bit watered down, but our overall SOS is superior this season to either Bama's or LSU's.

Notre Dame has a better than average chance against 6 teams this year. Navy, Purdue, Miami, Pitt, BC and Wake Forrest. The other 6 should beat Notre Dame handily. I agree that Notre Dame can go 6-6 and be top 25. In next year's pre season poll that is.

I disagree. Notre Dame could beat teams like Michigan, Michigan St and the like. They really only have no chance vs USC and Oklahoma.

Minnesota is a scrub team. They lost North Dakota St. and New Mexico St. Syracause....no need to even mention. Hawaii had a losing record last season; definitely not top notch.

Just because a team is 1AA doesn't mean they aren't better than some power conference teams. Just ask Minnesota and VT.

  • The problem with most fans look at SOS is that they simply look at the number of ranked teams and stop there. They really don't understand the game very well, so they don't count the number of road games, the number of top-40ish type of teams, discount all the trash teams, don't understand that playing 11 or 12 teams with a pulse is tougher than playing just 9 teams with a pulse. etc....

Most posters here, really lack the knowledge and understanding of what a truly a tough SOS is.
