As many know, I follow Mary Lee on line. She is the 3500 lb great white shark that has been hanging around the Carolina coast the past few months, often getting into the surf. She is part of a tagging and monitoring program that is run by ocearch.org
Being an avid off-shore fisherman, a conservationist and a marine sciences minor(way back when) this research fascinates me. It's a non for profit organization and I got the wild iodea to make a challenge with Michigan fans to raise money for the research. $1 per point scored by your team plus $1 per point you win by to Ocearch. Of course, they had no takers, but my board has taken off.
I contacted Ocearch and then corresponded with the lead of the project(Chris Fischer). We are trying to get $20,000.00 raised by the bowl games conclusion(most are doing pledges based on the point scenario) In addition we set up a secured donation site https://rally.org/gamecocksforgreatwhites/donate
We are going to try and get a shark tagged next summer and have him/her named Latti after #21 . In the first 40 hours we are at an estimated $3,000.00 of the $20,000 .00 goal. I am working with their media relations and we will be contacting OutBack SteakHouse , ESPN, and various media outlets. Watch next summer as Latti gets tagged....

Dude, that is awesome. Chris Fischer is pretty much my idol and I've followed him on just about every show he's been on. I don't even have the words right now to even say how cool this is. Freaking awesome man. I donated. You sir, deserve many cold beers for this. Well done

Ok a challenge for you. The board that draws the most support other than the Gamecock board, I will take a portion of my donation to buy a 1 year 247 membership for one of the donors.
