To be honest Drake is the only one of the MI top 4 that I really want. Haven't checked out McDowell though.

    What about that Webb guy?

    Heard he's pretty good

If he ends up at UM or tOSU, it will be nearly unbeatable in terms of epic proportion.

Trust me, you want McDowell. Best prospect to come out of Michigan in at least the last 5 years.

Also, here's the question: which school (of OSU/UM) results in the bigger meltdown? Or would the meltdown be roughly equal?

shrug we'll see. Cass tech guys are usually rated higher because they get all the publicity.

    hmmmm....good question.

I suspect OSU since we recently took Pittman and Urban is calling people out for recruiting better.

Although, I think they are unhappy either way. Why go play for a also-ran team when you can play for a contender?

Good question. On one hand they HATE Corch. On the other hand, they got serious little brother envy. Hmmm....

Gotta think tOSU would cause the bigger melt down, but who knows.

I say that because they're still butthurt about Pittman. The thread on their board about UFM3 telling the B10 to recruit better was pretty epic itself.

The Pittman meltdown was fantastic. I reread that thread about 10 times. I'm really excited for the Drake Harris meltdown. I'm calling into work that day.

Frank Thomas. Went from Chattanooga to Alabama and won 2 NCs, also racking up 140+ wins in his time there.
Don James went from Kent St to Washington and won an NC, racking up 150+ wins.
Lavelle Edwards came straight from HS to BYU and led them to an NC.
Bernie Bierman went from Montana to Minnesota and won 5 NCs with the Gophers.

Hey...you only had to go back 75-90 years. clap

    BTW, fail

Frank Thomas was 26-9-2 before going to Bama. A far cry from Hoke's sub-.500. He also did not go direct to Bama from Chatanooga. He was an AC at UGA both before (2yr) and after (2yr) Chatanooga before getting the Bama job. He was also Rockne's QB at ND for 3yrs before becoming an AC at Georgia. The point is that his credentials were far superior to Hoke's.

Don James was 25-19-1 before going to Wash. Again, a far cry from sub-.500 like Hoke. And Wash. is/was a far cry from being a top program when he took their job. However, I will grant you this is a tiny bit closer to a valid comparison.

Lavell Edwards did not go straight from HS. He was a BYU Asst. Coach for 10yr before being promoted to HC. In any event, BYU was not a top-tier program when he took over (their greatest achievement pre-Edwards was a 6-4 season where they won the WAC and no BYU coach had a winning record the 30 years prior to Edwards).

Bernie Bierman did not go from Montana to Minny. He went from Montana to Miss. State (for 2yr) and then Tulane (5yr) before going to Minny. His record pre-Minny was 53-27-6. (And both Miss. State and Tulane were in a big-boy conf. with what is now the SEC teams plus many of the ACC schools), Again, his credentials were nothing whatsoever like Hoke's sub-.500 record in mid-major play.

Feel free to keep trying, but so far you've whiffed. None of those were anywhere near as unqualified as Hoke. And nobody thought either BYU or Washington were top jobs when they hired Edwards or James respectively.

  • For you maladjusted boners / band geeks who didn't catch onto my sarcasm during my lunch today, my comments were mocking OSU fans who said that Urbz is outworking the B1G and everyone else just needed to work harder. The only evidence of Urbz work they had was "uhh he has a recruiting room" or something to do with "butthurt".

are you inferring that another team in the big ten has had better classes that osu? In actuallity its really almost irrelevant considering the success of the program spanning back lets say.... 2002? In all seriousness, if there has been a better collection of classes by another team over the course of this time clearly it hasnt had an impact on the outcome of the big ten.
