It's always hard to tell with Nova... he trolls so often that the line between trolling and reality gets blurred. I'm almost starting to think he believes FSU will actually put it all together one season lol. Hopefully he's just trolling though. There will always be one loss - somehow, some way. It might even be in the title game one year, but there will always be a loss.

    You don't know that

It should be obvious Im not trolling for if you are familiar with me I have never been this praiseful for FSU in years

Last year I was anything but excited for the season and was very vocal about it

I know what talent is and FSU is drooling with it now, like last season they still don't have great OL depth but its still the best OL they have had at FSU in a good while

Everybody always says why doesn't FSU win it all with the way they recruit ( they did go 12-2 but not many seem to respect it cause of a 1 point loss to an above .500 team, which is fine cause Im over it and don't really care... it doesn't make any sense though cause they were never true title contenders last season and teams that aren't lose games like the NC State one every year )

But their rankings are now starting to reach a Bama level in the upperclassmen

    Just take a look

The senior class that just left FSU was ranked by the 3 major services in the 7-10 range.... FSU just finished ranked #8 and #10 in the two major polls at seasons end and will likely send at least 10 players off to the NFL.... so really they were as good as they were supposed to be and did damn good in the development department with having 15 guys that are possible draft picks from the junior and senior class

This 2013 senior class was the 2010 recruiting class and they ranked top just outside the top 5 on ESPN and 10th on Rivals.. so pretty much the same thing and with a better QB I expect FSU to take that next step because the juniors and sophomores are coming off top 5 classes and fill in the most talented FSU roster in a decade

Its a bit tougher schedule cause UF and Clemson are on the road and winning the ACC against VT or Miami won't be as simple as beating a .500 GT team.... but its a very kind to FSU schedule as well with a bye before Clemson, no thursday night games on the road and finally a cupcake before UF like they do to us every year giving FSU 2 weeks to prepare just like them

No doubt there's alot of talent there. This is a recruiting website, so we can all appreciate a roster made up of highly ranked classes, but we also know there's alot more to it than just star power. You're absolutely correct that it's half the battle (at least) but the other half is coaching and Jimbo hasn't proven himself yet. I'm not saying he won't - it took Saban several years to refine his process and get things down to a science - but we haven't seen it yet. This may be Jimbo's breakout year where it all falls into place, but many people are withholding their optimism/confidence in FSU until that happens. The schedule in the ACC is pretty damn easy, although I'll grant you your point about your toughest games being on the road (yes, I'm aware Alabama has a pretty easy go of it this year also, but still not ACC level). I guess my point is that it still remains to be seen and I'm not going to believe it until I see it with him.

    I feel most of that

As for developing his under-rated 3 stars, he turned 3 stars McCloud, Werner and Rhodes into solid draft prospects

And most aren't noticing that Jimbo is sending 15 guys to NFL fall camps this year with at least 10 of them being possible draft picks that makes teams for sure

Where I disagree is coaching, its not all Jimbo and he and his staffs have done a great job cleaning FSU up from the mess Bowden left behind

People are just unfair in this day and age and expect it to happen overnight, when almost nothing does in college football.... Jimbo has proven a lot, pretty much everything except that he can't win a national title in his first 3 years on the job.... which if Im not mistaken has only been done twice IIRC

As for the ACC being easy, it won't be that easy next year

Clemson is better, Miami is better and VT will be better... all 3 of these games could be very tough for anybody and then we have UF on the road too... FSU's schedule isn't murder but its not a cake walk either

You realize you lucked into the title game right? You make it seem like you go undefeated every year and win by 30. All in all it pays to be lucky and have teams lose right before the title game. But Bama is not that good... They could just as easily have only 1 title. 2009 they were untouchable. You won't have even one great OLB, neither of your DEs are good, and Jesse Williams is gone. So get off your downsy ass high horse please...

I'm not sold on VT but I'll definitely give you the others. I think both Alabama and FSU beat VT handily.

As far as winning early in his coaching career, I think the reason why he catches more criticism for that is because of how weak the ACC was the last couple of years. If he puts up those first 3 years records in the SEC, he's on the cover of all the magazines and winning awards left and right. I agree it's a tougher league this coming year, but last year (I hate to go back to NC state again) it should've been an undefeated ACC title. Then you have what's happening in Gainesville. Muschamp comes in to a dumpster fire left behind by Meyer with a horrible QB, beats FSU and barely misses the title game last year playing a very tough schedule. When you look around and see things like that, it makes Jimbo's track record more disappointing than it would be if you just took it on overall season records alone. Again, not saying he doesn't have it going in the right direction, but he has alot to prove and I think he'd tell you the same thing.

Agreed, and it pisses me off... I think Im pretty vocal about that.... Im certainly not happy about losing games to NC State and things of that nature but its all part of a process once you calm down and think about it

But UF is UF, they are a very good football program and lets not pretend Meyer's mess was anywhere near what Bowden left behind at FSU

I like that we are measured next to them, but falling short here and there is what makes the rivalry so incredible for me and most fans on each side with a brain

Its a true rivalry that never stops adding fuel to the fire from recruiting to on the field and almost everything in between

UF is just gonna beat FSU some years no matter how good FSU is, I have learned to live with this fact

People also seem to forget that UF was #4 and FSU was #10, UF was supposed to win that game

As for VT I wasn't saying I was sold on them being a 10 win typical Beamer team or nothing, just meant they would be improved and should be a top 25/35 ranked team at the worst.... and if better that will be a tough game in a possible ACC title matchup, or beating Miami twice wouldn't be very easy either

  • How big of a "mess" are constant top 5 or 10 recruiting classes really? I hear this all the time from FSU, UF, Auburn, etc. If a coach never had a recruiting class outside of the top 10, you are not in a mess, you are stacked with talent, IMO. Of course they might not fit a certain system, but if being loaded with 4/5 * players = mess....then someone mess my team up please. Although if you are comparing what shape the respective teams were in, then FSU was in way worse shape than Meyer left UF in.

Except in pass defense, sacks and so on compared to FSU

FSU is right there with Bama this season, the question is who will QB for FSU

If its Coker like I expect, he will be stepping in as a rs sophomore QB.... and McCarron won it all as a first year starter in his rs sophomore season so its not that ridiculous to think Coker could step in and do the same thing, especially when you consider both hail from the exact same high school with Coker being the much better talent according to those HS coaches from said school

Coker is like the man or " not gay " version of McCarron and is ten times the athlete.... bangs are a toss up for both have a pretty sexy hair dew

Obviously you know nothing of Bama football because McCarron's dew is the source of his power and Coker's merely a cheap imitation thus far.

You've got me there because I don't know a whole lot about the state FSU was in when Jimbo arrived. I don't follow that situation nearly as closely as I do with UF and other teams in our league. If it was as bad as you say it was, then that makes what he's done more impressive.

Well moron let me explain it to you since clearly you don't know shit

in 2005 FSU signed a top 3 class.... but if you factor in the fact that 5 stars Callahan Bright and Fred Rouse were no longer on the team after their freshman seasons and that 4 stars Matt Hardick, Clarence Ward, Russell Ball, Kendrick Stewart, Dan Foster and Matt Dunham either never showed up to school or played any meaningful downs and its obvious this was the start of Bowden's downfall in recruiting.... take these studs off the NSD finish and you are looking at a class in the 20-30 rank range

And again this was just the start

In 2006 FSU missed on Harvin despite getting his 4 star teammate the same year, a kid who left FSU after one year

4 star Preston Parker was booted of the team

4 star Hardrick tried after prep but failed again

4 star Anthony Leon left the team

4 star Devontrey Richardson left the team to play baseball

4 star Daron Rose left the team

4 star Marcus Ball left the team after a few years

5 star Brandon Warren left the team after one year

Take off one 5 star and five 4 stars and you aren't ranked #3 no more for sure, like this class was on NSD

Then in 2007 FSU missed on the Pouncey Twins and the wheels really fell off, both were long time commitments to FSU before Bowden blew it on NSD

So add that little doozy with the fact FSU's 2007 class was profoundly awful and please explain to me how FSU was so talented smart guy ? Or that Bowden didn't leave a giant mess of players leaving, getting kicked out of school and cheating in the classroom to the tune of the biggest cheating scandal in NCAA history

The 2007 class, or better known as Bowden's last... was ranked 21st on NSD, and when was the last time FSU finished that low ? on any site ? and this class of 20 saw only 6 players last through the Jimbo era, could you imagine how bad a class of only 6 players would rank ?

Clearly FSU should have been winning 12 a season and competing for NCAA titles right ? you stupid jackass coffee

Bowden didn't leave behind a bare cupboard when you compare it to what other coaches inherited. Saban, for instance, inherited a team from Shula in 2007 that produced ZERO draft picks.
