Lets say big east football is Dead- where do they go

  • With UL informing the big east they are trying to get out and Boise and SDSU having second thoughts along with the Bball schools talking about breaking off it could be the end for big east football.

Lets say big east football is Dead- where do they go

    ACC,SEC,Big12 all 14 off this

I think this could be likely IMO

    ND- BIg12 Bball with 4 to 6 big12 football games a year

Pitt- BIg10, if big east collapses conferences will pick teams off to get to 14 or 16, if Pitt leaves before they officially join ACC they will not have to pay much to get out- BIg10 fits better in every way for them

    Cuse- Stay ACC

    Uconn- ACC

Rutgers- Big10 with Pitt for 14 for NYC market

UL- Big12 been rumored for months

    Boise- MWC/Cusa

    Houston- ConfUSa/MntWest

Navy- BIg12 football only for DC Market help with WVU- Balances the basketball only ND addition- also could add Air force with them to get back into Colorado and bring Tradition of AirForce/Navy with ND

    SMU- ConfUsa/Mnt West

    Temple- ConUSA/Mnt West

    Cin- COnfUsa/Mnt West

    USF- Big12 13

    UCF- BIg12 14

SMU,.Houston and Cincinnati would be other obvious big12 markets but I think the Florida Teams do better to balance a Eastern presence

Would keep ACC at 14, big12 to 14 with Florida teams if they cant get FSU, Big10 to 14.

  • No other conference will be bullied by Notre Dame like the Big East was. They will force Notre Dame to join in football or not join at all

  • They could join the big east basketball schools only and keep doing what they are now. Georgetown, providence, st johns, marquette etc.. they are still valuable as a all sports but football standpoint and the big 12 may well sign up for that.

How did the Irish bully the Big East?

By choosing not to join in all sports, so that football could stay independent. When fellow independent teams like FSU, Miami and South Carolina left they decided to join in all sports while Notre Dame chose not to.

So we're a bully for that?

  • Boise and SDSU were never a good fit. I'm a Boise alum/fan and it always felt like we were trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. We were so desperate for AQ status that we jumped at the first option.

I really wish that a few years ago that Utah, BYU and TCU would have stayed - that MWC would be tough, especially with SDSU, Air Force gaining ground and the addition of NV and Fresno. Alas - that did not happen. But I still think the MWC is still the best option. It won't be the same $$ as the Big East WAS GOING TO BE. But who knows is the BE will even survive this.

  • Pitt is geography and academicly a good fit but has nothing to offer TV revenue wise to the Big Ten. Rutgers would be in and I'm sure they would make a major run at Notre Dame.

I think the New York/New Jersey market is something they wouldn't pass up. It's all about $$$$.
