So you're okay with discriminating against them?

    Absolutely not

You're right, the struggles homosexuals face is certainly on par with slavery.

The struggles the homosexual community go through are not even close to what ethnic minorities have faced.

So, just because they haven't suffered as much, they don't deserve the same protections?

    Does it matter?

For the sake of arguing that not allowing gay marriage is legislatively similar to determining if children need to eat less, absolutely.

That's hilarious to think that the persecution of homosexuals or minorities begins and ends in a small period of time in American history. Also sad to use slavery as an umbrella for all minorities when it only pertains to blacks in this country.

The persecution complex is strong with this one.

Huh? How do you equate me pointing out that you guys think you are smarter than everyone and think that you know what everyone needs with me thinking everyone is out to get me? If anything, you further proved my point that you think anyone that disagrees with you is delusional. You have a disease.

When was anyone arguing that? This line of debate started when TroyTide said that liberals are behind all government overreaching.

People also need to remember that sexual preference and race are not mutually exclusive. No, I'm not saying sexual preference had anything to do with where slaves were pulled from nor am I saying that a gay slave suffered more or less than a straight one. But when people bring up slavery as some sort of combatant to the struggles of the homosexual community, they do so in a way that almost makes it sound like you had black slaves and gay people, but none who were both. There were probably more than a handful of gay people who suffered along with the rest of the slaves.

    lol My god, it's priceless.

"Maybe that's why you think that you can tell everyone what they need and what to do."

Hmm - not only do most liberals (hell, most people) not think this, but anyone who seriously believes this clearly feels that a certain group is telling them what they need and what they should do - basically, you believe you're being persecuted for not being liberal. Now, I'm an armchair psychologist at best, but wild generalizations like yours aren't exactly demonstrative of a perfectly well-adjusted human being.

Paraphrasing: like when the government tells people they can't get married or tells women what they can do with their bodies.

Thank you. I was trying to figure out how to make you prove that all of your opinions are concrete facts in your mind but the opinions of others that dont match yours are wrong. But you couldn't help it and chimed in before I had the chance, further proving my earlier point. Thanks for the help.

Not really. That's called some ugly hag with an ornery life being a bitch. You can't tell me some people are truly offended because the ten commandmants are on some wall in a school. Lmao

Yeah most recently at my old high school. County of 16,500 population. One person offended. ACLU got on board. Protected citizen rights by promising to bankrupt county and each member of school board with legal fees if ten commandments not removed. $500,000 in legal fees later and county had no choice.

First, TroyTide makes a ridiculous assertion:

"Everytime you see something absurd in the news where the government overreaches you really can just about always trace it back to liberals."

Then, sf2k4 provides an example refuting the ridiculous assertion.

"Like when the government tries to tell certain groups that they're not allowed to get married, right?"

Then, I provide further support for rejecting TroyTide's ridiculous assertion.

"Or when the government tells women that they don't have control over their own bodies?"

At no point did anyone mention the manner of government overreaching or even imply that marriage/abortion laws fall under any category other than "government overreach."

Not to get sidetracked, but why on earth would the county spend that much to fight something it was clearly going to lose? Seems idiotic.

Do you ever get tired of being wrong? I didn't post anything about being persecuted, nor do I feel that I am. And yes, most libs think they are "progressive" and "forward thinking" to the point that they think they know what is correct and what everyone needs, you included. Now you are so smart that you are giving out psych advise and evaluations over the Internet, further proving my point.

It was part of a display of 11 historical documents that influenced the founding of the country, going back to the mayflower compact. It would have ended up in the supreme court and been an interesting case. No guarantee the county would have lost. Therefore, the threat by the ACLU to personally sue each board member and bankrupt them and the county, was to ensure the county never had their day in court.

Actually it does. I am FOR the right of gay people to get married. But if a society decides that they don't want to allow it well....

The point is at what point do you decide that the people are wrong? If you put something on a ballot and the people reject it and you go ahead and implement it anyway...why vote?
