I dont know about playing somewhere else, but moving it to Saturday shouldnt be a problem if you ask me. LSU had a home game against ASU when Katrina hit, but ended up going to Arizona St. to play that game, so it is possible but maybe not for a school like LA Tech.

1. It wouldn't have worked to play the game in College Station this year. Hosting a D1 football game is far too complex to make it work in 4 days, especially when a significant portion of the people who would need to be working during the game--the hundreds of ticket takers, cashiers, maintenance people, etc--likely already have Labor Day Weekend plans.
2a. Moving the game to Saturday at La Tech is also complicated by Labor Day weekend. A significant portion of their staff may have been planning to have a nice extended weekend, and it would be difficult to fully staff the game with that considered. 2b. A portion of their staff probably is affected by the hurricane on some level, so it makes sense to give them the weekend off to deal with that on a personal level.
3. Texas A&M probably signed off on moving the game to October 13. It was an easy date, since both teams had a bye, so there's no reason not to play it then.

Not surprised when a state run by criminals would look at everything except whether the game could be played. It's not a coincidence either that the game got moved to A&M's bye week, the week BEFORE THE LSU GAME.
