MLB: Miguel Cabrera now leads all 3 Triple Crown categories

That's not a good argument. Front office moves don't make a player valuable. He plays the position he plays, and both first and third are among the easier positions.

Using that logic, the Angels were sunk when they were 6-14 and had no leadoff hitter and Vernon Wells was one of the worst players in the game. They call up Trout and he gets them to the best record in the AL since his call up. Pretty valuable if you ask me.

    Both arguments stink there.

So the fact that a player can play multiple positions isn't valuable. I think being able to play multiple positions in any sport is valuable. Couldn't sign prince to play 3rd. It was cabreara or inge.

Trout played all 3 positions in the OF and mostly at CF, what most people think is the first or second most difficult position (along with catcher). I'm not sure what point you're getting at, but Cabrera playing third doesn't make him more valuable than Trout at CF. Factor in that Cabrera is well below average at third and Trout is well above average at CF and your argument sounds even worse.

  • Give the awards to who you want, Miggy is the best players in baseball right now.

Miggy slugged .742 vs the Twins and Indians and nearly 20% of his ABs came vs them. 4 of the bottom 6 ERAs were in the central. Worst division in baseball. Ted Williams won the TC twice while not winning the MVP.

He also hits in a pitchers park.

  • I'm sorry, but nobody truly gives a shit about defense. You don't sign a player for defense. You sign him because he can hit.

Detroit this season, hitter's park. LA, pitcher's park.

Hate to burst your bubble but according to baseball reference LAA is more of a pitchers park than Detroit. It sounded nice though.

That's probably because Detroit has better offensive players on the team. Comerica was ranked #17 in 2010.

Bullshit. Name a non-piss poor team that builds a team around defense. The Athletics and Rays are the only two truly defensive minded teams in baseball. GMs sacrifice defense for offense all the time. Scoring runs >>>>>> Saving runs.

The Angels had the 3rd best offense in baseball and the 4th toughest park to hit in. That's not how they create the park factor stats.

I didn't say build around defense. I said build around overall talent, which includes fielding and running.

If Trout were on the Tigers and Miggy on the Angels, you guys would all be singing different tunes. You're all biased towards the best player on your team. It's natural. It doesn't make you right.

Defense in the outfield is so much easier than defense in the infield. Skills wise that is. All you have to have to be good at defense in the outfield is speed. You can't argue that. Defense in the infield is completely different.

Then why did Comerica go from #17 to #9? They didn't change the park dimensions at all.

Yep jumps, instincts and arm don't have anything to do with OF defense.

We should just use the WAR stat for all awards, it is the mega stat. If you take a guy with a WAR of 10 he REALLY won his team 10 more games than someone with a WAR of 0. Perfect stat my friend and all we need! Team WAR should decide the WS champ.

You never played baseball? Judging a fly ball off the bat, taking angles to the ball, being aware of where you are on the field, needing a big arm, etc. You're crazy. Infield is just instincts and routine throws. Only need to run on bunts. Post is ridiculous.

Probably all those crappy pitching staffs in the central skew the numbers.

I don't think you've played baseball. Since little league you always hide the kid who can't field a ground ball in the outfield.
