mother of God
I remember when it was impossible to go into Texas and get a recruit UT wanted. In fact, they would be committed to Texas in like April. They need to hope for another mediocre year so they can get rid of him. Then they need to make a big hire. A&M is not going away and UT has allowed them to gain a foothold that is only going to get wider. Not good if you are a UT fan.

it is probably too late. the sec is in texas now. a&m is the university of texas. even the recuits that dont go to a&m are going to other sec programs. they will be good again one day because they are texas but its not gonna be as easy or as prolonged.

I find it hilarious when some slap stick from alabammer tries to pretend like they're in the know with regards to dynamics of our state. Having a lame duck 80 year old mouth breather for a HC has hurt us far more than this supposed 'sec invasionm'. I'm much, much more concerned with our dipshit governor turning our university into a diploma mill, similar to the likes of Bama and LSU, than I am the SECs 'presence' in the state. A&M not withstanding, we lost more kids to the likes of ND and Ohio State than any sec school.
I will say that A&M will continue to be a thorn in our side as long as theyre competetive but that would true regardless of their conference affiliation, so from that standpoint I'd agree that the monopoly we've had on the state is over, as Sumlin has them headed in the right direction.
