They will be scary when they get a new coach, much like georgia

it is probably too late. the sec is in texas now. a&m is the university of texas. even the recuits that dont go to a&m are going to other sec programs. they will be good again one day because they are texas but its not gonna be as easy or as prolonged.

  • Yeah Mack, because it's so hard to recruit at Texas. How does this guy still have a job?

Seriously. How does he manage to get only 2 of the top 15 and only 3 of the top 20 players in Texas? That's beyond embarrassing.

    mother of God

I remember when it was impossible to go into Texas and get a recruit UT wanted. In fact, they would be committed to Texas in like April. They need to hope for another mediocre year so they can get rid of him. And then they need to make a big hire after that. A&M is not going away and UT has allowed them to gain a foothold that is only going to get wider. Not good if you are a UT fan.

  • Is this really a surprise? They probably pushed for this to begin with.

So far UT and UGA athletic departments have spoken out against it. Looks like we're just standing pat. Haven't seen many other schools' opinions, but I haven't really looked for them either.

Not good at all. The vaunted Texas Junior Days aren't locking up the top talent anymore, and if Texas has to fight with other in-state schools for the top Texas talent, they're really in trouble. Texas should only have to fight off OOS powerhouses.

I find it hilarious when some slap stick from alabammer tries to pretend like they're in the know with regards to dynamics of our state. Having a lame duck 80 year old mouth breather for a HC has hurt us far more than this supposed 'sec invasionm'. I'm much, much more concerned with our dipshit governor turning our university into a diploma mill, similar to the likes of Bama and LSU, than I am the SECs 'presence' in the state. A&M not withstanding, we lost more kids to the likes of ND and Ohio State than any sec school.

I will say that A&M will continue to be a thorn in our side as long as theyre competetive but that would true regardless of their conference affiliation, so from that standpoint I'd agree that the monopoly we've had on the state is over, as Sumlin has them headed in the right direction.

    Just like richt

Yep. MR got two of the top 15 instate. That's in a year where there were 4 five stars and he took like 33 kids. I'm serious when I say this, I think Rush Propst would make a better head coach than Mark Richt. Richt has cost UGA several SECCG appearances and at least one NC.

on the gridiron you need to be concerned with how to hold modest teams to less than 50 points a game.

or a diploma mill will be all that you have left within the dynamics of the University.

I wouldnt be opposed to doing it every other year or so. Thamksgiving is out of the question now. Texas could really use the SOS boost.

FWIW, Alabama is a much better university than LSU. To put it in Texas terms for you, we are rated on a similar level with Baylor. So that means above TCU, OU, Tech, etc. and well above LSU.
