Mad Men – Season 5

  • Roger really is a sociopath. I still like the guy but damn. I also like Don getting back at Ginsberg for the shoe thing. Though, to be honest, I liked Ginsberg's SnoBall idea better.

Oh, and uh: "No fat Betty, bam-a-lam..."

Ginsberg: What do I care, I got a million of them. A million. Draper: Good. I guess I'm lucky you work for me. Ginsberg: I feel bad for you. Draper: I don't think about you at all.

That sh*t was awesome. I love this Big Fat Betty stuff, Weight Watchers? lmao - not to mention her jealousy is going nowhere and of all people, it was Sally that put her in her place.

I love me some Roger. (full homo) The man cracks me up.... Hands down my favorite character besides DD. Oh Fat Betty is so jelly. Also, this scene w/ DD & Ginsberg was MAG.

Roger is the man. Funny funny guy. "I have to start carrying less cash".
I've watched that episode twice already and will probably watch it again today. The show is sooo addicting

  • Just watched this episode last night. Another tremendous episode.

How in the hell did Alexis Bledel's boobs not fall out of that fur coat?

    Aussie

  • So was Betty turned on when she saw Megan dressing? Is that what she was talking about at the Weight Watchers meeting?... or was it just jealousy?

I think she is very jealous. I don't think she was turned on.

Yeah I mean it is possible but I think it was more about her remembering when she looked like that.

I wonder how they will write Betty back into shape.

Things that have been set up through the course of the show that I could see happening:

-The big reveal that Joans baby is Rogers. -Joan and Don hooking up. -Peggy and Don hooking up. -Big fat Betty and Don hooking back up. -Any talking woman and Don hooking up. -Death (Cooper, Pete, Megan, Joans husband) any of those I could see being offed. I do think it will be a male, seeing a single father is one unique plotline that hasn't been completely explored. -Peggy and her man breaking up. -Don falling from professional grace. -The group signing a big account ala Hilton. -Someone developing a drug addiction, hard to see a show about the 60s without someone experiencing that.

They brought Midge back in the last season as a heroin addict (which i found completely unnecessary while we're on the subject)

Peggy and Ginsberg will hook up leading to some sort of awesome drama.

Yeah I agree. After seeing her Betty was jealous of the way she looked and found to be jealous of their life together.

So she tried to mess it up a little, backfire bitch!

  • So Laine is in deep financial sh!t... Don and Joan are developing an interesting relationship... Pete is still a tool... Megan is about to lose it... and Don can still give a fan-fvcking-tastic pitch speech. I mean really, that Jaguar bit was awesome.

  • I don't see anything happening with Don and Joan. They has always sort of had a close friendship with a mutual attraction.

Don't know what the deal is with Lane. Why is he is such bad shape financially. I mean taking out a $50k loan to give himself a bonus was a dumbass decision.

I can't get a handle on Don and Meagan's relationship.

He's in deep tax sh*t. He was in the state's on a temporary visa and was spending money earned in/from England in the US without paying taxes to the Queen. That's what I gained from the back and forth phone convo's he was having early in the episode.

  • They did get rid of Paul. They had to do something to get him out. That's what I like about Mad Men; for the most part, no character simply leaves the show without a story-connected reason. Plus, the whole Buddhist thing showed us that Harry, who by all inclinations was a devoted family man, is just like the rest of the boys in SCDP.

Meh. I don't see any of that. He took another job with a different firm.... aka HE GONE. The whole buddhist thing was pointless IMO. Harry showed his true colors when he banged his innocent little secretary when she was wasted. I thought it was nice to give Paul the money.

The secretary thing was a long time ago, before Harry had a kid and another on the way. They obviously wanted to remind us he STILL is just as sleazy as the rest of them. That and that he might be the most morally conflicted of all of them, seeing as how upset he was at the prospect of Paul finding out. Obviously, Harry could give two sh!ts about his wife. lol

  • That was probably one of the best episodes in Mad Men history and that is saying something.

The end between Don and Peggy was perfect.

I know that we haven't seen the last of Peggy though.

Oh and eff Pete. I hope they kill him off or something.

I love the way Draper's character has played out... He is genuinely a solid dude. Not sure if he'll remain faithful (don't care honestly) to Mr. Ed or not but I think he is way more content in life without Woah Fat Betty. The last scene with Peggy was awesome... so was the way he handled the Joan ordeal. Class act. Smart move for Red though IMO. Single mom just insured her kid was taken care of forever. Hoping Roger KO's Pete for it later on though.

That last scene was so perfectly acted by Jon Hamm. The range of emotions he displayed in a 5 minute span was unreal.

I really hope Campbell gets what is coming to him.

Also it is only a matter of time before Lane gets busted.

  • I'm debating whether or not the Jaguar pitch dethroned It's Toasted as the bet pitch on Mad Men, which has held the honor since the pilot.

The Carousel is still my number one.

I liked the Jag one but wouldn't rate it tops. Maybe because Ginsberg came up with the idea more so than Don.

The tension between Ginsberg and DD is weird. It always throws me off every episode it develops within the plot. Clearly he's jealous, but his jealousy was different in the latest episode. I feel like we are only getting a portion of what's going on there.
