Madden is Dead to me..

  • Now, I'm not usually one for conspiracy theories and rumors, but I heard something to do with the NFLPA might have been why they took out editing players. If that's true, what on earth would be their reasoning for it?

  • Meh. The demo I played blew NCAA out of the water. I will buy Madden this weekend. Couldnt care less about the fantasy draft. As far as football games goes this is one of the best I've played.

  • Lol at most people ITT. These missing features were announced months ago. They didn't "take them out for no reason." They were never in. This is an entirely new engine that they began work on two years ago, and they just haven't been able to add those features in yet, due to a couple of reasons. The three main ones are that they didn't have time to add, it may cause connectivity issues, and it interferes with the new branching storylines feature.

Buy it or don't. I'll keep NCAA because I love CFB and I have an OD going on here, but Madden blows it away.

  • Last time I bought NCAA 08 and Madden 10 both games didn't work. And I did nothing to them. Will never buy from EA again..

So, the new engine is to blame? That makes sense. I mean, look at Skyrim. After the big engine upgrade from Oblivion, it makes sense they had to leave out all of those... wait...

I knew they were removing fantasy draft, but they removed franchise mode too?? Wow.

There is franchise mode. its just not called franchise mode anymore. Its call connected career. You choose to play as a coach then its the exact same thing.

I never did fantasy draft so no big deal to me. I really like this game.

So it's pretty much just like Dynasty mode on NCAA where you choose a coach or make your own?

They removed Franchise mode and Fantasy Draft.. Main reason i bought the game. I wish i would have looked up reviews on it before hand. So heads up to everyone else. If you like either dont buy it. frustrated

I've never been able to get into Madden anyway. I'll stick with NCAA.

yes. They just made the offline franchise, be a player, and online franchise into the same mode.

you just choose what you want to be at the start and play. if you want to play as a running back like road to glory is you can do that for 6 seasons and retire and become a coach starting in the 2018 season. Its pretty cool really.

i havent done much with the XP stuff. Im really hoping that it doesn't progress players at a ridiculous rate. Hoping it stays pretty realistic.

Skyrim was made on a five-year development cycle. Madden is a one-year development cycle. Josh Looman, the EP for Madden, said that when it came down to it, they had time to either make sure offseason FA worked properly or implement fantasy draft.

Anyways, off to play the next game in my CC...

EDIT: Also, they did take some things out of Skyrim that were in Oblivion. The one that pops into my head immediately is spell-making. Can't do that anymore.

  • Hopefully next year they will give you the option of playing franchise mode or CCM. CCM seems like it could be fun but I liked the fact that I could control all 32 teams and make the proper draft and roster choices for them (like drafting the right personnel for a 3-4 D). I was pissed when they took out the imported Draft Classes and even thought about canceling my NCAA pre-order but if they’re really willing to fix it so it will work properly next year them I’m fine with it. If any one remembers in last year’s game it didn’t really work because not enough players would be imported, and when imported a lot of players would come in looking like creatures.

Honestly, Madden shouldn't be a yearly game. None of the sports titles should. Get them on a three-year cycle and just release new rosters every year in between. No reason to pay $60 every year for basically what I suggested above.

And they took out spell making but improved the overall spell mechanics along with a better dual wielding system. Fantasy draft was left out with nothing added in its stead.

    - Branching storylines
    - Infinity engine system
    - New XP development
    - Game face capability
    - Scheme-specific ratings
    - New scouting system
    - New practice system

These are all off the top of my head new things in the game.

Also like I said, fantasy draft wasn't "removed" per se. They just didn't have time to incorporate it into the new system, and they said as much months ago when they announced the mode. If it's not in next year, that'll be puzzling.

I don't necessarily disagree with you though on the fact that sports game should not be a one-year cycle. I think every other year would be feasible.

EA would lose too much money by not putting out their terrible product every year. Remember, they don't care about you, only your money. Developers like Bethesda, Rockstar, Take 2, Sony's God of War team, Bungie... Those are some developers that actually care about their product and fan base. They take their time, don't release a series yearly and some even take up to 5 years to get a sequel out because that is how much they work on it. EA Sports? Especially EA Tiburon? lol.

I blame EA for what happened to Mass Effect, too. I love Bioware but will admit they F'd up, but plenty of blame's on EA for rushing them. Isn't EA to blame for Bioshock Ulimate being delayed though?

They completely overhauled the entire physics engine. I would rather they get the game play right instead of worrying about a fantasy draft.

They also added the option for u to choose some play calling in the be a player mode so teams aren't running the ball down 3 with a minute left like years past. This game is an upgrade.

Also in my experience importing draft class was severely broken anyway. Not a big loss
