The fact that I threw Sullkev under the bus just now makes me think of something when he says "mentally challenged". Every post I've made so far has been regarding crime, not lunatics executing mass murders. Those you can't prepare for and a gun ban would actually limit those so he is technically correct. But 'deadly assault' is very vague, more people would use knives or whatever and "crime" would not see a drop.

I understand where you are coming from but in that circumstance I would much rather have something to protect myself then be completely defenseless. As you said if a psychopath wants a gun he is going to get one so why not have something to protect yourself? Ill take my chances with a gun then hoping that the psychopath chooses not to look in my direction as I sit there defenseless

imagine everyone is carrying guns, person goes to a bar, now your average bar fights are turning into shootings far more than normal.

The odds of being involved in a mass shooting like this are pretty small. If everyone is carrying you are much more likely to have someone get pissed/drunk and make an impulse choice with the weapon they are carrying.

There isn't a great solution to this issue and there are consequences every way.

You have the right to defend yourself. Concealed carry laws benefit both those who choose to defend themselves by carrying and those who choose not to carry (the criminal has no idea who carries and study after study shows that fear of the armed citizen is above that of the law for criminal - actually top fear). Now, the person who chooses to carry is still responsible for their actions. If you have a CC license, it does not mean that you can "track" the criminal down and eliminate him. I does mean that as you drop behind wall/storefront X for cover, you do have the means to defend yourself from the criminal.

Now with that being said, nothing will stop batshit crazy people from doing bad things. It is easy to make a big bomb, use a vehicle as a weapon, poison food...It would help if the media stopped plastering these events all over the news. Part of the reason some of these loons do this is they are upset that nobody notices them or they aren't taken seriously. They want to end their lives, but "show us" first (ie kill a bunch of people and get on the news/noticed by whoever). Not putting this all over the news is in direct oppostion to the mainstream media's desire for gun control and our desire for bad news (good news doesn't sell as well).

It is what it is, but I am not worried about any new gun laws right now (GOP controlled House).
