Yes for medical purposes, no for recreational uses. Why? Because the effects will likely be dulled down tremendously and large industries will manufacture it in a similar fashion to how cigarettes are made and possibly have similar additives as cigarettes have.

I Disagree...respectufully
When the cigarette industry was created it was homogenized by OUR government (and the powerful tabacco industry). The tail wagged the dog and chemicals were addded to create a product that was more harmful.
I've got a great idea... Don't do that this time.
Cannibis is all natural and you can grow in your backyard. You don't need Phillip Morris and RJ Reynolds to manufacture this for us. You need Bill & Ted.
But... even if the sale of marijuana becomes industrilized. I can't imagine in a million years that it will create a company like Phillip Morris. It will create more companies like StarBucks.
Where do you think marijuana smokers are going to go to make a purchase? A place that has a wide variety of all natural product or some homogenized industrilized corporation?

If it's going to be legal, you can't have people just growing it in their backyard. You'll have a license to grow it and a load of other legal work to go along with it. That isn't my opinion, that's what the government would do if marijuana was legal.

You can't distribute that beer legally though. One of the major incentives for legalizing marijuana is the crazy money the government could make. So why would the government want everyone growing their own weed and the government being left out on all of the possible money?

Because it's convenient and you know what it's like, right?
I'll try to phrase it better. If you like Starbuck's coffee and it's quick and easy for you to get, would you go out and try another coffee shop that will take you longer for you to get your coffee and risk it not tasting as good for the same price?

I don't want to distrubute MY homemade beer, I want to drink it. I don't want to sell MY homemade weed, I want to smoke it.
Again... we know more then when the tobacco industry was created. Don't do it that way. Leave it natural. Make laws AGAINST adding harmful products to marijuana.
Again, this is really an easy hurddle

Well it's illegal through the Commerce Clause, so I'd imagine the Constitutional justification for legalizing it would come through the same clause. The thing is that no one (but especially the liberal bloc of SCOTUS) wants to change the interpretation of the Commerce Clause as laid out in precedent. Changes the interpretation would threaten lots of legislation (especially New Deal era legislation). See Gonzalez v. Raich.

YOU may just want your own weed, but you don't think there are going to be people who want to distribute it and make some easy cash?
You would think what you stated is an easy hurdle, but if the government is going to legalize it, they are going to want to make a profit from it. Best and easiest way to make a profit from taxing it? Have it mass manufactured through large businesses.
Yes or no question for you, if major cigarette companies can mass manufacture weed and sell it in a similar fashion to cigarettes, do you think they'll pass on the opportunity to do so?
