Market since Obama took office.

  • The economy was losing 450K jobs a month when he was sworn in. That's not exactly surprising, considering we're now adding jobs every month.

  • The President has almost no control over market activity. It's obvious the market would bounce a bit back since everyone panicked and stocks became undervalued. This proves nothing regarding Obama's performance handling the economy. That being said I think he is a good president and will definitely vote for him a second time, especially with how weak the Republican candidates are right now.

Gas back to 2008 levels with the economic recovery, unemployment down 1.1% from the peak of 10.2% in October 2009 which had been increasing since 2007 when unemployment was at 5%. Don't care about the approval ratings or consumer confidence.

Obamas approval rating is actually very high. around 46%.

The US president also has zero control over the international demand/supply and price of Gas.

If he did, then we would live in a communist county.

Republicans love having their cake and eating too. LOL

Just opened up the oil reserves.

  • to many stats to really make a judgement right ?? We just got Osama and that has to count for something at least for awhile anyway - great for both Rep and Dem's as well

Its the liberal playbook. If something shows how terrible they are doing they ignore it. Just like this idiot thinks the stock market being high is indicative of the economic health of the American citizen. That is a line a supply side Republican would make. Just shows you his brain has been propagandized by the communists from the DNC.

The "Rally Effect" only lasts for a few weeks. The Bush response to 9/11 got him to 90% approval. Did that count for anything in 2006 mid-terms and 2008 General Election?

So you didn't cry about high gas in 2008, correct?

  • good point CocoWalk but i really think in the end getting that guy will have a lot longer effect as he was the number one terrorist in the World ; i continue to see referrals to his death even as late as last night on one of the political shows . Just me the President will bring that little tid bit back out to the public when he starts the serious re election bid - which he should

He will use it just as Bush used the 9/11 boogie man to win re-election in the middle of a quagmire war. But I can promise you this; if the economy sucks come November 2012, he will be out of a job. Just look at how Clinton defeated Daddy Bush in 92. People don't give two blanks about Bin Laden when they have been out of work for 18 months.

  • i agree but right now things seem to be getting somewhat better in terms of unemployment , gas prices , consumer spending , etc... i know we still have lots of problems no doubt ... we have to find a way to start reducing the debt - if even possible at this point

Please elaborate on how things are getting better from the economic perspective. 9.1% unemployment, high gas that provoked the president to dip into reserves that are to be used in natural disasters, consumer confidence is as low as ever, housing market is terrible, I could go on and on and on.

    CocoWalk302

  • okay , maybe not better overall but better than it has been over the last 8-10 months - gas prices are coming down , unemployment is coming down , the top terr in world has been shot and killed , the market has recovered and experienced a huge comeback over the last year , the dollar is at a high considering all things ; there is no way that any one president is going to solve all of our problems ... who would you suggest that we vote into office as an alternative at this point ?? Newt , Sarah , Mitt , Donald ??? my point is that there are no great choices out there right now and although our President seems lost on some issues we have to give him a shot at trying to fix this mess that he has gotten us into over the last 2.5 yrs ..right?
