Marquedius Bain to flip from FSU to Miami?

  • Sounds like it. Depth charts at FSU and Miami at DT are very different. Wish him well.

"I wouldn't say my commitment to FSU is that strong right now. I am getting some new offers in, I want to see what other schools are like, and I just saw Florida State sign a bunch of defensive linemen in this class.

"They signed a lot last year too, so they have a lot coming back, a lot of new guys coming in, and the depth chart looks a little different to me now. "I still like the overall program, they have good academics there, and I stay in contact with Coach Haggins, but I am going to visit other schools."

What schools does Bain want to see?
"Miami and Alabama are the schools I am thinking about mostly right now," said the Fort Lauderdale (FL) University star. "I get a ton of mail from those two schools, they are showing me a lot interest, and they are two I really want to visit."

Right now, Bain is just looking for that perfect fit. Academics have to be right, but getting on the field early could be what leads him to that school in the end.

"I have not de-committed to Florida State yet, but I am really thinking about it. I just want to play as a freshman and have a real chance to start as a freshman. I will go to a school in state or out of state, I just want to find the best one."

  • Better soon than Feb. 6th, 2013. One thing FSU isn't hurting for is DTs.

I think Miami in 2013 will have Curtis Porter, Luthur Robinson, Corey King, Earl Moore, Jacoby Briscoe, Dequan Ivery at DT.

I want Jaynard Bostwick to go along with Caleb Brantley as of now. I know we just offered Bain and a biggum from South Carolina. We definitely need quality and quantity on both sides of the line this go round.

Easy for a young kid to jump into the rotation there

Eh, high ceiling PROSPECT that should not be looking for the easy way on the field. He needs a great DTs coach and a redshirt.

  • He won't start as a Freshman at Bama or Miami, DT is one of the hardest positions to start from as a freshman

  • He may not start at Miami, but he will for sure see PT as a freshman.

He won't see PT as a freshman at FSU. They are too loaded.

Yeah sounds like a few things

1- article is bullcrap and is just somebody poking at the kid to reconsider FSU

2- the kid is flat out stupid

3- the kid is flat out stupid

4- he is mildly rethinking cause when you see that many beasts sign to one place it will force any young man to think twice

Too early to give a damn

    Still, you never know

I thought no way in hell Timmy J played and he ended up being the best on the team

No way to tell how a DT translates right away, not with the limited info we get as fans

He likely doesn't play right away i agree, but that is good for him

Playing right away when you aren't ready is dumb and picking a school to cater to your stupidity is a big mistake

Most DT's should redshirt, this kid is a 3 star and at max a 4 star

Him trying to play right away will do him no good

Yeah you just never know who is gonna develop better.

It could get interesting at DT this year for us.

Grimble and Pierre are both up to 300 pounds now, so they will move inside with Porter, Smith, Robinson, Moore, Briscoe and Ivey.

So I still think our depth chart is by far favorable to early playing time. Starting right away though? I doubt it. But we have to see who develops first.

  • It's a position we're loaded at, obviously. At this point (and throughout the process) people were saying out depth along the DL would hurt our 2012 DL recruiting. Well, Timmy J got plenty of PT and did really well as a freshmen - the 2012 kids took notice. The 2013 kids will watch Goldman and MEJ get on the field regularly and often and also take notice.

That doesn't mean any of the 2013 kids will be good enough to get PT as freshmen. But, our coaches will still legitimately be able to show freshmen getting PT and selling how the best kids will play - period.

  • Our coaches have always played the best players no matter what class, but other coaches love to sell our depth chart to recruits to get them to reconsidered.

We will lose 4 DT after this 2012 season before he attends his first class. We may move a current freshman DT to OL. He'd have 2 seniors, 1 junior and 1 sophomore "ahead" of him as a true freshman. He and Senat could see extensive PT as true freshman.

  • Apparently Miami was just telling him we have 11 DTs. He called our coaches and they informed him 4 are Seniors and they're moving Derrick Mitchell to OT so when he arrives it will be 6.

To add to that I doubt Darious Cummings goes all 5 years at FSU, he's a RSo in 2012 who hasn't played.

And Jernigan will be 3 and done.

    Yup

Im not giving up on Cummings yet

He has been hurt a lot though

Sometimes that is code for kid who is down on himself and is losing confidence
