I guess I am in the minority but I see a lot of positives... The BIG picks up the DC, Balitmore, NYC and NJ markets (Those are HUGE). Also Rutgers has done well with big east money (what can they do with BIG money) and MD would have BIG and Under Armour money to help create a successful program. Also they are both good academic and research institutions. Also it is looking more and more like super conferences are coming are way eventually (and it will be all about TV money) I guess it make a lot of sense to me when I look at it

As a fan, I don't care about TV markets. I still have to watch MSU beat Rutgers in most years in football and throttle them in basketball. Not sure if they even have a hockey team, but again, we would throttle them if they do. Not excited about Rutgers.

Rutgers brings the NYC market about as much as Temple brings the Philly market.
Nobody in DC gives a crap about Maryland unless they're having a lot of success, which neither of their revenue sports have done in a few years. And even then they only get about 40,000 for football in their better years and their basketball program has less fans in the area than Georgetown's.
Don't overstate the market share issue.
