Id be shocked if there was any negative impact on our recruiting, I expect it to help. We will be upgrading facilities and pitching a legit schedule in a big time conference. That will trump being able to drive to 2 extra game a year.

I think a lot depends on how they do. Yeah, Rutgers can sell a better conference. However, while in the Big East they could sell a relatively clear path to a BCS game. Not so much in the Big Ten. If they get in there and start going 4-8, 5-7, recruiting won't be so hot.
Hard to say what it will do for Maryland right now. If they can put even more money into their facilities, that should help.
Overall, outside of the SEC, I never thought conferences made that big of a difference in recruiting.

I don't think Rutgers will go 4-8 or 5-7...They will still have an easy, easy OOC schedule, as well Maryland, Purdue and Indiana every year.
Couple this with more funds and a better recruiting pitch (higher quality of opponents, more national exposure), IMO Rutgers will take a big leap forward
And finally, Rutgers IS 9-1 this year. Granted, it's against a crappy schedule, but RU has been winning the last five years, so I don't expect them to become a bottom dweller

As bad as the Big Ten has been, they wouldn't be 9-1 if they were in the Big Ten. Maybe they wouldn't be 4-8 or 5-7 this year, but considering this is about their second good year out of what...the last 40+? There's a good chance they'll have years where they get 4-5 wins.

I disagree. Since '05, Rutgers has only had one year where they were under .500, and they are just now starting to get 4* recruits on a regular basis. I don't think Rutgers will ever be in the top tier (OSU, UM, Neb., Wisc), but they will be able to compete in the top half on a yearly basis (MSU, PSU*, NW, Iowa), and they are above the bottom tier (Indiana, Purdue, Minnesota, Illinois, Maryland).
*With PSU soon to be on the decline for the next few years at least, Rutgers has a shot to establish themselves.
You are right though, they would not be 9-1 in the B1G. I would say 6-4, 7-3 region.
