Matt Barkley,,, different??

  • Its no lie USC QBs have struggled in the Nfl. Sanchez, Leinart, John David Booty, Palmer was good PreInjury, but u get the point. A big reason some have said they struggled in the nfl, was because it was just too easy for them, USC had crazy talent during the PC Era, all those QBs played with Elite skill players, great Olines, & good defenses. And the Pac was not as good as it is now. All those QBs rarely lost, Leinart had 2 losses, JDB 3, Sanchez 2.

Barkley on the other hand, not so much. He's been threw tough times at SC. His Frosh yearhe had decent talent around him, a horrible D, & 4 losses. Sanctions come next year, new coach, still a horrible D, his skill players are OK, lost 4 more games. Jr year, the emmergence of Lee/Woods, a great Oline, & a decent D, he goes 10-2. This year, he had Elite skill players, but a Crap D & Oline. I think the Oline had a lot to do with his struggles this year. & Kiffin being his head coach.

What kind of nfl player will Barkley become? Unlike the other SC qbs, hes dealt with hard times, losses. While he had good talent, not talent like the others had. If he slides in the draft and goes to a team like Dallas, or AZ, I could see him being a good QB in the nfl. Hes had a crappy senior year, so he may be getting underated a little. He may only measure in at 6'1. Theres no doubt he has talent, and is still the #1 QB in the draft.

  • He also had much worse coaching at USC. He's going to suck

  • Actually I think Barkley can be different than the others. He has the potential to do much worse.

  • I hope the Cardinals draft him

  • I don't think he'll make it in the league.

Great kid but his decision making, lack of arm strength, accuracy, and caving under pressure will ultimately be too much to handle in the NFL. I hope he proves me wrong and sticks but I just don't see it. He'll probably get drafted in the late first round but I'd take him some where in the late second/thrid if he was available.

    Unfortunately this.

Guy is a great representation of the university, but I think his decision making is too inconsistent.

Much like Sanchez, and we've all seen how that played out.

Love it if he'd prove us wrong though.

Ya I've seen a draft analysis of Barkley, and it said while he is mechanically very sound and throws an accurate ball, his arm strength isn't great, and like you mention his decision-making looks suspect right now. Also mentioned that while USCs system is pro-style, from a QB point of view it doesn't ask your QBs to do as much as in a true NFL offense.
