yeah not really, how many 5*'s are there every year....maybe 25. another 250 4*'s then thousands of 3 and 2*'s. the odds are in favor of the 2 and 3*'s

  • True story, when I was a senior in high school, I played against a then-sophomore Chandler Jones. I was a TE, and he pretty much embarrassed me. He was way underrated as a 2-star.

  • That's a list to be proud of for Rivals. Lots of high four-stars and five-stars on there. With thousands of 2/3s, you expect a few of them to sneak into the first round.

  • These type posts always confuse the hell out of people and they begin to believe rankings dont matter. It's hillarious. There's like 20 three stars for every 5 star, of course some will develop later and end up in the first round. DUH

You really can't say that Les Miles can't develop players when you look at what he has done with Claiborne and Honey badger alone.

  • I would much rather see a comparison of the Rivals early 250 and the final 250. Funny how players like Claiborne etc move up once a few big time programs shows interest.

I want to start my own rating service. I will watch no film, attend no camps. One month before the season I will rate the players based on what teams are interested in them. I bet it would be pretty close to Rival, Scout, etc. BIg time programs seemed to do ok recruiting long before Rivals came along.

    To be fair,

If a few big schools are interested in a kid, it probably means that they can play.

I'm sure you would do just fine. The final rankings are all that matters.

Small, small school.. No offers, played WR full time in HS.

Honey Badger had no bcs interest either.

Plus, rivals has openly admitted under evaluating Louisiana which is bs considering the talent.

So thank u Barton being the only scout bumping Mathieu to a 4**** and you Louisiana coverage.

JC...I bet you didn't realize how easy your job was until now, ha ha! And just think...you get paid to do this simple job of ranking thousands of kids. I'm guessing that your day goes like this.."Rueben Foster just got an offer from Alabama....Who is this kid...how did he slip through the cracks of our pre-evaluation period? We better rank him #2 overall since Bama offered him." Aren't you glad you don't even have to watch film anymore. At least you will free up some time in your day. I respect what you guys do and that's why I pay for it...keep up the good work man. Don't forget to do that Bama Bump on the final rankings you guys so often get accused of. RTR!!

  • I would say that is a good job by rivals. How many 5 stars do they have total. That is a pretty good success rate on 4 and 5 stars when. Compared to how many 3 and 2 star players there are over 4 and 5.

No...Just kissing ass in hopes of getting that Bama Bump at the end of the year. But I do enjoy moderate sarcasm. JC knows Saban controls the rankings...didn't you. In all seriousness I think that guy was serious and its stupid to make that kind of statement. Just my thoughts though.
