That's where she wants to go. So that's where we're going.
My main question is where to stay? I'd rather do a bed and breakfast. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks.

yeah its fun...don't be hungover when you walk the grounds you will WALK AND WALK AND WALK. Its pretty entertaining though. Vanderbilts were balling, definitely.
Abbington Green B&B is our favorite place in asheville. You want to spend a little more, they have a very large suite in the carriage house behind the main house, so you get some privacy.

B&B or stay at the Biltmore Lodge. They have some package deals IIRC. I know your on a budget, but you only have One- One Year Anni.

ha - you know what? thats where we went on our 1 year anniversary also! or maybe 2nd year....you will see it alls tarts running together :-)
oh yeah. there are some good restaurants in asheville also - the owner of this place will steer you away from the touristy places and towards the quality places.
place called The Market Place is good - they have a nice private table thats kinda under a stair well, tucked into a corner, out of view of other tables...also faces the bar.

If you want to save money, stay away from any hotel near biltmore. Either go about 15 minutes south or north and you'll get a more reasonable priced hotel.
I live in Asheville. So if have any more questions. Feel free to ask.

Did that a few years ago. Pretty neat place. We rented a cabin in Cashiers. Snow on the ground the whole time we were there. Memorable trip.

I actually proposed to my wife there and we have been back many times. We stayed on the grounds so not sure where else to stay. But you must eat at Corner Kitchen. Great food in biltmore village.
I lost a sig bet. that is why I have these sigs until November 7, 2013.

Really if you look up hotels off of highway 25 in Asheville, you'll find a lot.

My advice, stay south in Saphire Valley. And drive up the day to visit. Saphire Valley is the shizz.

stay at the Inn if they are running any specials - sometimes they run a 3 nights for the price of two ; dont know the names of any B&B's near there

Been there a few times. Wife loves it, and its pretty cool what technology thy had back the .
Check out the grand bohemian. Its a marriott property and its right outside the front gate. Very nice, walking distance of some of the little shops and the atmosphere there is pretty cool.
Not bad pricing if its a getaway sorta thing.

I loved the Biltmore. Stayed at an Extended Stay. Not the most romantaic, but we had a full kitchen. Biltmore is amazing, espescially the table that had Napoleons heart on it. If you have a chance, eat at the Lodge. Great steak and a great view of Asheville. They have a bluegrass festival downtown every summer, that is generally every weekend for 6 weeks, if they are still doing it.

But yeah, basically stay out of the biltmore village area and you'll be good to go. Everything directly around biltmore is outrageous in price.
It's hard to suggest any particular hotels. One, I live here. So I don't go around trying hotels. Lol. Two, I'm at work at the moment and can't get to a computer and do some research for you.
