I'd liked to have seen 10 games, but 7 is fair. Next time should be permanent IMO, Artest contributes to negative stereo type that NBA is full of thugs.

Not enough for a repeat offender IMO. Guy needs to be taught a lesson. Bynum got 5 for what he did in the playoffs last year and this was way worse.

if he isn't playing, the Lakers aren't paying
if the Lakers lose in the first round of the playoffs, how much of the blame goes on Artest? Is he that important to their team?

I think 7 games is about the minimum number of games David Stern could suspend him and not look like a weakling. I felt the best path would be to suspend him for the entire postseason, regardless of how short or long it would be for the Lakers. Oh well.
The best part of this? Assuming the Lakers take care of business in the first round, Artest's first game will likely be against Harden and the Thunder. That series will make the NBA a lot of money.
