Miami and LSU fans.....

  • What's the current perception on Tim Williams' recruitment on your boards? This is just a random Q, we haven't heard much that's solid at all. We all assume LSU.

    I admit I am far more interested now than before since we'll most likely see a Jack LB position develop at FSU. I've heard his grades are bad. Like Juco bad.

    I think he's leaving the state and I do not see him as a part of our class this year. We have a few spots left for Bain, Beckwith, Priest Willis and maybe someone else but not Williams... In my opinion

  • We seem to do this literally every year. There's a top player in our state we just don't recruit hard every single year. It's weird but i can't complain.. This staff finds countless diamond in the rough type players but doesn't recruit a few highly ranked in-state guys every time. Most recently Darrington Sentimore and Eddie Lacy.

    yea the rumor a few weeks ago was that LSU stopped recruiting him

    as for visits, its not confirmed yet but he is supposed to visit Miami with Standish Dobard on Jan 18th....we havnt heard much else either....been pretty quiet

  • He visits LSU the 11th, Miami the 18th, and FSU on the 25th. I kinda think we land him, have to prep him and then LSU steals him the next cycle lol.

  • We just heard there are issues on and off the field. Nothing concrete but he really isn't talked about much anymore because everyone on our side said we stopped recruiting him.

    Probably grades (Williams)... He's a very good player though and up for grabs because we're not after him and haven't been for months.

  • Weird situation with Williams because he has a small child but seems to want to get out of state and away from everyone. Numorous rumors about off the field behavior issues and maybe even grades.

    I honestly think Williams said somthing to our coaches or they heard about something that made them decide to quit pursueing him. He a good player but when LSU stops recruiting a star football player who goes to high school on LSUs campus then that should tell you somthing is wrong here.

    clover unless paperwork is straightened out soon. Heard Miami is fallback if that doesn't happen.

    Yeah agreed. It doesnt make sense on why they took Bain, but let Williams go. Ive heard it will be tough to get Bain qualified.

    Meh. It helps when you recruit big time DT Talent in the first place. IMO he's not LSU material is all. Dude barely played DT this season, his high school staff thought he was a better O-lineman. shrug

    I know it harder to get into ND but will he get into Miami also if he can't get into ND ??

    Just heard the news yesterday. Don't know how stringent Miami's admissions are, but it sounds like he visited there as a fallback in case his transcripts aren't accepted to ND. Guess we will know when he decides at AA game.

    If anyone in this conversation is overrated it's Williams. Bain is a 3*, Williams is ranked top 100 in the country and was a complete nonfactor most of the year. Williams is a very good talent and on that alone is worth his ranking but it doesn't translate on the field, at least not this year. I wish LSU were still pursuing him with vigor but I trust that Haley and company know what they're doing by not doing so. Also trust Haley with his evals on DTs. We've got a guy now named Bennie Logan that was a low 3* DE as a recruit and now is a future NFLer. Our staff loved Bain as a junior and in person at DT.

    He barely plays DT for his own high school since he plays on the OL most of the game, so he is basically a project.
