Michael McCray to Michigan

    +1 Thank you.

You have to call it when its deserved.

I saw the young man a few times last season and he is going to be great! IMHO!

As much as that hurts to say, but I is true!

Yep. Makes you wonder why a legacy didn't get an offer.

Maybe Urbs doesn't care about legacies before he got there? shrug

I said this elsewhere that it may be because of
strategy, looking for faster LB, but still, he is going to regret it.

Yes, I don't think McCray fits the mold they are looking for at linebacker. Seems to be more about fit than skill. This kid more than likely has an offer under the Tressel regime. Time will tell if this comes back to bite them in the butt. Personally, I think Bolden is the guy that will have Buckeye fans shaking their heads in the years to come.

His HS football coach was recently quoted saying McCray's one of the best athletes he's ever coached. And Burrows is from the same HS. I don't understand Urbie's thinking on this one, but I m not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

I really dont understand your thinking either. We simply have players higher on r board. Timmy K doesn't even have an offer yet and I like him better than McCray. We took 5 LBs last year, so we dont need to reach for a LB. Not saying McCray is a reach, again we just have players higher on r board. Don't take this the wrong way but its not like u guys are snatching up cant miss prospects in Ohio minus Thomas. I really like JB but we are in on Huerman who the staff likes better. I have no problem with Dukes but we are in good position for Foster and Gibson. Im not high on Taco at all. I know this is a touchy subject for you guys but he really has not done anything impressive on the high school level. His measurables are great but looks like Tarzan plays like Jane right now. Then you guys have Thomas, who is a straight beast (no, i dont think he flips). Where you guys are hurting us this year is snatching up great OL prospects around the area. None of your Ohio pickups, minus Thomas, r going to hurt Ohio State.

I just love the spin of these posts honestly.

Dukes tore up Burrows this year for the tune of 170 and a couple of TD's. He might hurt Ohio if your savior is covering him.

Taco is rated highly by pretty much every service. He has the tools to be a stud and will have 3 excellent DL coaches coaching him, I like his chances.

McCray fits the Michigan defense pretty well. I see him being the heir apparent to Jake Ryan.

JB the staff was pretty high on. 6'6 with great hands and solid speed, decent chance he hurts you guys.

But none of these guys will hurt tOSU? We will see.

Thomas will hurt tOSU for sure. Going to hurt Marshall coming across the middle.

Ok, but I was not talking about Charlton or Dukes, who are a notch below McCray IMO ... or for that matter Thomas, who Urbie did offer. I was talking about not offering McCray - an in state kid who is a legacy and who grew up a Buckeye - because you think you might be able to land someone else who might be a sliver better. McCray has as much potential as nearly any LB on your board. And he's 6'4" ... do you know how hard it is to find big, fast, athletic 6'4" LBs? FWIW, he's also better than some of the guys you took last year. But, hey, like I said, if Urbie would rather roll the dice and hope he can pull someone who might or might not ultimately turn out better, it simply makes life easier for us. I am certainly not complaining.

I think if any staff can coach up a player to play at the best of their abilities, it's Michigan's staff. (directed towards Taco)

Look at what they did with a defense that ranked 110th a year ago.

    Meyer doesn't understand Ohio.

I'd say Meyer doesn't understand a great player when he's standing right under his nose. I don't care what state McCray is from, he's just a good football player, PERIOD.

Welcome to Michigan Michael. Word hard and keep improving, we'll be rooting for you to succeed!!!

I don't think that is what he's saying.

The only player from Ohio we wanted, but committed to you guys is Thomas. Of course, that means jack-squat right now. Jalin Marshall is "can't miss" prospect according to most, but Stokes might end up being a better player. I believe Hauerman (90% sure he will choose OSU) is higher rated than Butt, but that means squat right now.

The guys you got from Ohio (minus Thomas) were not top choices for our staff, that is a fact. BUT, that doesn't mean the players you got are crappy. Most of them are good players, some will pan out, some wont. Hopefully for OSU's sake, our staff was right in their evaluations. If our staff was right by offering players like Hauerman over Butt, then it was a good decisioon. Time will tell.

Congrats on the pickup. I like McCray, and I always shake my head when an OSU alum lets their kid go up north. Bad parenting. Social Services should be notified of abuse and/or neglect.

Well he said "none of these players will hurt tOSU".

I get the recruiting board, just saying none of these players could impact tOSU negatively is silly IMO.

  • Meyer is focused on bringing "speed" into the b1g. OSU will be very selective in this recruiting process. I mean if 11-2 and a sugar bowl win is what you want every year then by all means scUM recruit your hearts out and keep taking the kids that you are. Living in the midwest the past 8 years I can see why the fans are happy with mediocrity and B1G championships, all of you guys think alike.

  • I do not think a Meyer lead team ever went 6-7 or below .500...I could be wrong.

    UrbanWarfare

  • I love this.

Meyer is really stcking his neck out by going after OOS kids harder. And, a legacy recruit nonetheless. He better pray to "on high" that he can win quickly and often at OSU. I am sure Buckeye fans THINK he will, but it is going to be hard to win at Ohio with OOS kids.

I don't think the post-breakdown Meyer that OSU hired is the same guy he was at Florida.
