Alabama is better than both Michigan and Ohio so I would take that as a compliment y'all.

I love Columbus, my family is all from here n Columbus is an awesome city but for certain areas of Alabama I agree. I lived in Gulf Shores before I moved here (age 2-9) n go back to visit all the time n its amazing. The rest of Alabama isnt much different from Ohio really. Gulf Shores just takes it to a different level. Shores n Florida keys is the best fishing and boating areas in the US.

Fairly harmless and immature troll-thread. Right up my alley, therefore my response is: Jeffrey dahmer was a buckeye, got to go now, I have to take an Ohio, and will proceed to wipe my Columbus when done lol

  • I live in Alabama and love it here, and I lived in Louisiana from the time I was born until I turned 21 and though I didn't like the state overall there are features and culture there that I hold dear to my heart, especially LSU football. I'm not really impressed by Michigan though. I have been to Battlecreek, MI several times and everything is just really run down to me. But I'm just speaking for what I saw.

So you went to a small Midwestern town in southern part of Michigan surrounded by corn and that's what you base your opinion on? Try going up to Traverse City sometime and tell me it's not absolutely beautiful. Take a ferry over to Mackinac Island. Walk around the Sleeping Bear Dunes. It will blow your mind.

Hey now, nobody who has Detroit can talk about another city. That city looks like it went through a nuclear winter

Clearly you haven't seen recent pics of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (sarcasm). Absolutely beautiful now, quite the opposite of Detroit, which at the time of the bombings was booming (OK not the best word) better than any city in the country

Blue water bridge. 30 minutes from me. I love Michigan, great fishing, hunting, boating, skiing, biking, hiking, great vistas, camping, etc. Great place to for vacation any season of the year.

O.K., this typifies the mentality in an earlier thread today.

Great idea. Take one or two trips, go to Battle Creek, for goodness sakes, forget about Lake Michigan, Huron, Superior. The ski resorts, the hunting the 10 thousand inland lakes, rivers, the sandy beaches, the snowmobiling the skiing in both summer and winter, the National Forrests, the fishing the beautiful boats and great sailing lakes, forget about all of that, because well, hell, you did see Battle Creek. This is brilliant.

That would be Flint not Detroit.

God help yall if Flint is worse then Detroit. I've been through a good portion of this country, and Detroit is by far the worst place I've ever seen. You could give me a mansion in Detroit for free, and I wouldn't live there.

Thank you. Downtown Detroit is just awesome. I love the area with Comerica Park, Ford Field, Joe Louis Arena, Cobo Hall, Fox Theater etc. Hell the city has a gigantic fist hanging in it. That is the coolest thing around.

Michigan has a lot of awesome spots no doubt but Detroit is the worst major city in the US. Im not even sure that can be questioned.

You don't know what we're talking about? I drove through one area that had 4 straight miles of abandoned factories on both sides of the road, and passed a couple hundred crack heads, burnt out buildings, boarded windows. Pure Michigan there.

If your definition of a "good" city is strictly percentage of buildings occupied, then yes--detroit sucks.

There are many other definitions of what makes a city great. Judging only on class income as it relates to population density is...well, insensitive to a tragic situation at best, and sociopathic at worst.

Well. To that I say bullshit. I've been to every major city in this country not named Charlotte, NC. I'm from Oregon. I CHOSE Detroit.

And by your definition, Cario, IL would rank right up there with Detroit. Flint would be in the same boat. Baltimore is downright "scary" in parts. The Bronx sucks. New Orleans is the murder capital of the world. Minneopolis is the rape capital of the world(and by a factor of like 8--which begs the question--what the fuck is wrong with minnesotans?), I was mugged in Cincinnati, which also ranks as the most conservative large city--see creationist museum. It's also dangerous. Cleveland is terrible by your definitions. Saginaw is bad. Seattle leads the country in suicide. Memphis is "bad".

I digress. Your definitions of what makes a good city sucks. "Detroit" looks a lot like a lot of places. People come to Detroit and I blow their minds. I'm the best cheerleader it has. And I'm not even from here.

But then again I'm not taking them to brightmoor or anything.
