    You have a half of a National championship since 1950. We have 6. Learn your place.

    You should do your research about MSU's "claimed" National championships and how many of them are shared if you're going to call ours a 1/2 championship.

  • Guys take it to the UM/MSU thread. I put my 2 cents in there.

    Congrats to Se’von.

    Perhaps, but Rocky is perhaps the biggest douche on this board. He puts on this persona he isn't bias at all, and just has this general attitude that makes him look like an asshole. Newsflash Rocky you are a huge homer.

    When have I claimed NOT to be a huge homer? Seriously. There are times, like for the Big 10 Roundtable, where I'll do my best to turn off my MSU biases, but why would you expect an MSU alum and fan to be unbiased? I don't remember signing up for that.

    I really do try to be polite, but that doesn't make me objective all the time. If someone flames me, I'm likely to respond in kind, especially when it touches on MSU. I don't owe it to you, or anyone else, to be anything other than an MSU supporter.

    And yea, my initial post was a swipe at our own fans, the chicken littles who have already conceded 2012-2022 to UM based off of the current recruits.

    I've got a simple rule: If you're rational/polite in a post, I'll be rational/polite back. If you're a dick, I'll be a dick. Why do you think you have carte blanche to run around on this board, spreading rumors about an MSU recruit that your OWN FANS call you out for, but an MSU fan can't defend that recruit without being called an "asshole"?

    Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

    Putting words in my mouth I see. I didn't put the rumors out there Rocky, if you want to take issue with those rumors cuss out Bill Greene, TomVH.

    I'm just saying you are a douche bag. You talk on 247 like your the smartest, know the most about football, above everyone else. The same thing you guys chirp UM fans for. I just like to point out that you are a douche bag.

  • Michigan fans are seriously talking about academics as an issue here when the kid may early enroll? Wow, the spin machine is going strong lately!

    We should just talk to Jim Harbaugh (your plan A coach before going to what, plan D?) about academics and football at Michigan.

    Actually, I chirp UM fans for giving me shit about Plaxico Burress when I'm in a supermarket buying a month's supply of pizza rolls. i.e. there's a time and a place for everything. The recruitment of Se'Von Pittman no longer concerns you. Both sides can agree on that, so just leave the thread.

  • I don't really care about TomVH and all say about this kid. UM fans, go hug your father instead of trying to take a dump in this thread (outside of the couple posters with actual insight).

    WHERE DOES HE PROJECT? Is he DE or an OLB?

    Freshman Contributor? Or should we expect him to redshirt? How does he fit in the depth chart? What's his pass rush ability like?

    The recruitment does concernme, it concerns me that UM now has a realistic shot as missing on all good rush ends.

    Also I don't care what other UM fans have to say about Plaxico. What one other UM fan says about the schools academics, or about MSU's thugs does not concern me. So don't try and chirp me about those things when I didn't say them.

    His pass rush ability is elite. Probably projects as a DE but could be an OLB because of his athleticism. I don't know about your depth chart, so I couldn't spear about the other factors.

    Michigan will take minimum NCAA qualifiers, just like everyone else. The only difference is Michigan is active in trying to limit that number to only one or two per year.

    It is clear Michigan has no problem taking minimum qualifiers based on the number of kids over the last several years who didn't make it into Michigan, but also didn't qualify anywhere else.

    Yeah... they gotta make sure they can cut it in that rigorous "general studies" program that most of them wind up majoring in.

    ... I didn't, genius. I was trying to interject some light-hearted-ness bc I personally don't call out UM fans for their football banter. I only get on the morons who don't get that "there's a time and a place for everything."

    Recruitment concerned you until he committed somewhere else. There is no relation to this young man and the UM football program anymore. If you want to talk about Michigan's recruitment of rush ends, there are other places for that.

    That's one of the stupidest things I have ever read. His recruitment concerns me up until the point he signs his LOI.

    I love college football and spend a fair amount of my free time reading about it/watching. I'd say I have a pretty fair knowledge of the game, but NO WHERE do I claim that I know the most about football, nor do I say that I'm above everyone else. I purposefully seek out other big college football fans and like to have in depth discussions about the x's and o's, projections, etc.

    I try to have fun with it. I've talked to ND, Nebraksa, tOSU, Ga Tech, Miami(Fl) and Auburn fans on here and have had zero problems with those fanbases. Hell, I really enjoy talking to 80% of the UM posters on here.

    Putting words in your mouth? How about you making general conjectures about me? I don't flame anywhere NEAR what some of my fellow MSU posters do, I try to moderate fairly on my board and I enjoy talking about college football at a reasonably high level. What, out of all that, makes me a douche? When have I gone on proclaiming myself as an awesome football poster, or that other posters are dumb?

    Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

    He's a 4-3 DE, but there's some speculation that MSU is really going to move to a 3-4.

    I honestly thought we weren't going to do it, but now that I look at the 2011 and 2012 class thus far, I see

    DE: Hoover/Clemons/Knox

    NT: White/Reynolds/Ramondo

    DE: Gholston/Heath

    OLB: Norman/Tai Jones

    ILB: Bullough/Hammock

    ILB: LT/Gardiner

    OLB: Denicos Allen/Ed Davis

    Pittman could be a 3-4 rush specialist at OLB, or he could put on 25-30 pounds and be a monster DE. I'm very excited about this kid playing at MSU. Truly seems like a "can't miss" prospect.

    Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

  • Hey guys, I have some facts from someone who actually spoke to Pitman a couple weeks ago. So first I am gonna say this. I love this kid, he is a great kid and an awesome athlete. I was so disappointed when I heard that Michigan asked him to hold off a couple weeks ago. I feel he is a top 10 maybe top 5 guy at his position in the Nation. He is going to be a stud some day in my opinion. Now to the FACTS. He was asked to hold off by Michigan and it was an academic reason. No it wasn't GPA or SAT or ACT test scores. The problem is that the state of Ohio has a three part test the students have to take to graduate. I am not exactly sure how the test works but I believe that there is a Math/Science, History/Geography and a English/Grammar test that they have to take. I am not sure how it is scored, but I do know that he has passed two of the three tests already. Now, you can only take these test so many times a year. But here is the kicker. The third test that he failed he totally bombed. From what I am being told is that if the test was an A B C D F grading scale then he would have scored an F-. I am not sure what subject it is but the kid only got a few questions correct and has a LONG way to go to pass this test. So, that and the fact that Michigan is in on so many good D-lineman is why they asked him to hold off for awhile. Not to mention, David Brandon will not go through another Demar Dorsey type situation EVER again under his watch. Like I said earlier, I really like this kid and hope he can pass the test even if he chose to be a Spartan. Guys, I am sorry I can't tell my source but I can tell you he is a High School coach in Ohio and like I said he did talk to the kid himself. One more thing, nice pick up Spartans, and I hope between the two of us we can raid the state of Ohio of all the good talent! Go Blue!

    I don't see how he failed the OGT (the test you are talking about).

    I have seen drugged out stoners pass the OGT with flying colors, especially with them dropping what the grades you need to pass all the time.

    And it is a test that has a Math, Science, Social Studies, and Writing parts.

    Post is accurate.

    Kid will get to retake the test 3-4 times during his senior year though.

    There are ways around it, or there were a few years back. Letters of rec/support from teachers, principle, for example. I don't know all the details, but he did not pass one section.

    Found it.
    You have to pass all of these following requirements:

    * Pass four of the five tests and have missed passing the fifth test by no more than 10 scale score points;
    * Have had a 97 percent attendance rate each of the last four years and must not have had an expulsion in the last four years;
    * Have a grade point average of 2.5 out of 4.0 in the subject area missed and have completed the curriculum requirement in the subject area missed;
    * Have participated in any intervention programs offered by the school and must have had a 97 percent attendance rate in any program offered outside the normal school day or year, including those offered by someone other than the school;
    * Obtain letters of recommendation from each teacher in the subject area not yet passed and the high school principal.

    It's not exactly easy to pass without the OGT.

    signature image

    ScoutExile

  • Apparently it is easier than the OGT. However, it seems like if you meet those other requirements you should have no problem passing the exam.
