****Michigan State vs Boise State Game thread****

  • Last night we had the 2 Stooges playing.I guess tonight we found the 3rd Stooge playing for MSU.

USC is a powerful place that Lane Kiffin is ruining.

  • Definitely not the sharp Spartan squad I was expecting. I know the offense is replacing a lot of pieces, but I didn't expect this large of a lapse from last year to this year.

    Very young offense.

    Very experienced defense.

The offensive line is not young. Bell is a junior. Maxwell, as we've been told ad nauseum has been in the program 3 years, soaking up Cousins knowledge.

MSU isn't a very good football program.. takes year of consistent winning to get to that level. - copemoney 1/22/13

Actually, according to their coach, they've been lying in the weeds

We have a freshman on the OL, a sophomore on the OL, 2 juniors, and a senior. I don't know man. Starting first year WR's and a first year QB. Haven't you UM fans been telling us this for a while now... like all summer? Is the spin now that we're experienced or something? I don't get it. Tell me your angle. Is it going to be that we should be better because they were in the system and does it not only apply to Maxwell but also the rest of the new starters?

I think I see what you're aiming at...

What I see is you making excuses, which is something Spartans claim only Michigan makes.

I've been fairly critical of MSU tonight. You just can't make some of those throws and if you do, you have to trust your WR's.

I love the defense but like I said a few posts back, the offense is inexperienced. I'm going to take a wait and see approach.

You seem to be on to something.. Don't know how Spartan fans weren't expecting a drop off from Cousins. Kid was the best QB in MSU history..

  • The play calling for Sparty has been suspect all game long, IMO.

Dantonio is a good coach but sometimes, when I watch MSU, the play calling doesn't make sense to me.

Danielle Hunter, Jamario Rasco, Anthony FREAK Johnson.. DL wrecking crew of 2013.

To be fair and objective, those picks are easily correctable. It's not like Maxwell made bad reads. It's more timing and familiarity with his receivers.

So far, the line has not been impressive.
The D is stifling but clearly there's a way to neitralize them with quick, ACCURATE passes

    Dan Roushar is the OC.

Yes, Dantonio is a good coach. Actually, I think he's a great coach. He's given college football the ND ending and the Wisky ending. Perhaps tonight will be another classic.

MSU is seriously weighed down by their OC. Play-calling against Nebraska made zero sense last year. With a decent game plan, they likely would have beaten us last year.

On that note, I fully expect a trick play or fake FG/punt.

I believe State wins this game. They'll make adjustments and get Maxwell comfy with short quick hitch passes. They should also get Hill more carries or Bell's gonna have 40 totes in the first game.

Yeah, the Fowler pass if thrown half a second earlier is a TD. The arm is there but the decision making is not. We'll see how the 2nd half goes.

I've been quiet this summer. I've been working a shit ton but such is life. Some MSU fans on here probably need to swallow some pride after two 11 win seasons. We don't have Kirk and it shows. Kirk would probably have MSU up something like 24-10 or so. Not the same this year.

  • Like I said, from an unbiased point as possible, MSU is going to go through growing pains on offense. Anyone could have seen this, but their defense is definitely legit.

Let's see what happens in the 2nd half before we make too harsh of judgements.

Simply, no. Cook isn't ready. Maxwell is the guy. Elite 11 QB, 4 star recruit, big high school career, 3 years in the system... you expect more than this but have to understand he's youngish. We'll see.

That would be a horrible decision. Gotta work through the mistakes, especially in the first game

Only coach who would pull such a douche move is Spurrier.
