Agreed. We had our chance and passed. Great pickup for sparty.

We had to pass. You don't just pass on a kid like that for no reason. His grades must be pretty darn bad. I would imagine that he has work to be able to get into MSU as well. The same thing happened with Dorsey a few years back and will happen every year.

    Bring on Mr. Washington!!!

Peat is having a great visit. I don't think he'll commit yet, but it's safe to say we can expect a return trip.

Also, Steve Elmer got his offer today.

Having a commit from Peat would be huge. The oline class would be amazing for Michigan.

  • I don't understand how he plans on enrolling early but has grade problems, whered that rumor come from? Good get for sparty

  • Ondre Pipkins plans to visit to Michigan soon. Originally, he had planned to visit towards the end of summer, but now he wants to visit sooner. His decision will also come "sooner than expected". Perhaps, it will be on his visit to Ann Arbor.

    Where is this from?

  • Just FYI Jordan Diamond was back in Ann Arbor with his Mom. From what I am hearing the visit with Peat got his attention. We will be in consideration with this young man. 2013 Steve Elmer also was on campus and his dad said the visit was very good especially the academics. This is all per Allen by the way.

    Actually, twitter. thumbsup

For those who aren't familiar with the situation, Ondre's father lives in Saginaw, MI. His father coached Lamarr Woodley, and he's Ondre's favorite player. Ondre had lived in Saginaw until a couple of years ago, when his parents split and he moved to Missouri with his mother, but he still considers Michigan his home.

  • So quick hitters from TomVH's update:

We've made Trey Keenan's next cut. He's extending his visit to participate in camp.

Ondre Pipkins will visit in July/August.

2013 prospect Steve Elmer's father really enjoyed Steve's unofficial visit.

Maty Mauk will be taking a return trip soon. Rumors of a commitment are not mentioned.

TomVH has no clue what's going on with Jarrod Wilson.

Shaq Wiggins (2013) may take a visit. He says Florida State is his dream school.

Ohio DB Cameron Burrows is someone to keep an eye on for the class of 2013.

Jordan Diamond stopped in again to visit with the coaches on Sunday.

  • FWIW, Bill Greene mentioned the other day he thinks Michigan's in excellent position with Wilson. I'm usually really pessimistic when it comes to recruiting, but I'm pretty confident we're going to land Wilson, whenever he decides to announce.

Yeah, that's a pretty safe statement to make. We were Wilson's leader from February until he stopped talking to media/bloggers at the end of May. Now, everything that's coming out is secondhand from Ricky Powers.

I think Jarrod ends up Maize and Blue, but I don't have firsthand information.

  • So to recap for 2012...

We're looking good for the following players:

    Jarrod Wilson
    Aaron Burbridge (hopefully, he'll qualify)
    Jordan Diamond
    Chris Wormley

The following are thought to be leaning blue:
    Ondre Pipkins
    Eric Olson

The following are those that are warming up to Michigan:
    Adolphus Washington
    Dwayne Stanford

    Am I missing anyone?

And if things proceed well...we could end up with 17 or 18 players that are 4 stars or higher and 7 or 8 players that are 3 stars.

if that's what happens, I'd guess that our 2012 recruiting class will grade out to be a top 5 class. (I'm using last year's team rankings as a guide.)

    Good list. Couple comments:

You still think Day is leaning towards us? His coach is chirping in his ear.

And you might as well cross Diggs off. He will not be in this class. We're likely not even talking to him anymore.

  • Anything on Nelson Agholor? (I know that he's very interested in USC and UF.)

Agholor and Stefon Diggs are my two favorite prospects in this year's class.

Even if Michigan doesn't get either, I will follow their careers in college to see if they perform as well as I expect them to.

Yes. I think I was the first to write about this "chirping." It's become an exaggerated internet meme. I checked on our position with Day in late May, and we were still leading. To him, it felt like a second home. Though, we do need to watch out for Notre Dame.

Diggs has a grades issue and a possible eligibility issue. We'd likely start talking to him if these were resolved.
