Considering not too long ago- we were thought to only be taking one more DT...this is a pretty crazy developmenty IMO. If all three want to take the plunge...how can we say no? I dont think we can!

Sidenote: Im of the opinion that we are taking 2 DT's no matter what. But 3? That would blow my mind actually.

I would take all 3 but if I could only take two, I think would take O'Brien and Pipkins. Thoughts?

I agree as well. I would be happy with any of the combination of Pipkins, O'Brien, Day, or Shittu as long as we get Pipkins. If we don't get Pipkins I will be really disappointed. He's a must get.

Agreed. Pipkins is definitely a mountain, he could be a huge run stuffer for us. Reminds me a little bit of Terrance Taylor, with more explosiveness.

Burbridge is a must because of talent and Stanford is a must because of Washington. I think Burbridge is easily the best of the bunch and Stanford is a little bit above Chesson, they are all talented though.

Nah, it's unlikely any of the other guys would end up blue anyway. Remember, Braylon was an unheralded 3-star, too.

In case anyone missed it last night, here's some highlights (below).

It's much more likely that Stanford ends up blue than he ends up anything else.

Exile's point though...about Chesson, rings true, though. I'd take him any day of the week.

We have a decent shot with Stanford, but I think he's been a little slow to warm up to Michigan. Hoke & co. know what they're getting with Chesson, and I'll trust their evaluation of the situation. They know far more and far better about which kids are seriously interested, and which aren't.

As for the star rating-- don't worry about it. Because of the level of competition in Missouri, it isn't a well-scouted state. Additionally, competition weighs heavily when giving star ratings and rankings. If Chesson was an Ohio player, he'd probably be an unanimous 4-star and a top 20 receiver.

Still, Chesson's low profile isn't going to last. He has torn it up at Michigan's camp (MVP), Miami's camp (MVP), and Florida's camp. A lot of low profile schools like Oklahoma State and Purdue were hoping that he'd stay under the radar, but that won't happen with teams like Michigan, Miami, and Florida verging on sending Chesson a scholarship. Even Iowa and Illinois have sent an offer.

If someone from this thread starts a thread on Bucknuts to entice them to come over to this thread, I'm not going to do much when they come over here flaming. That is on you guys since you went over there first. Upvoting a topic over there is one thing. Don't start a flame war.

No one went over to BN to start a flame war. I've been a member of that site long before it joined 247. To the best of my knowledge, I am the only poster from this thread who has posted anything over there (expect for one other guy a couple of times). People have upvoted the threads, but that is not flaming.

  • If Burbidge doesn't qualify I would have no problem with bringing in Stanford and Chesson in this class. Two big targets for DG and Shane Morris. Burbidge looks too much like Mario Manningham to me to pass up.

I have a growing sense that we might take 2 WRs, but I think Stanford being in this class will come down to how long we have to wait for him. I also get the sense we're overestimating the Washington-Stanford package deal and underestimating Stanford's interest in Tennessee, LSU, and Miami. Ohio State may also get back into the mix. I just don't feel he's anywhere near a sure bet, and because of potential depth problems (in coming years) we can't afford not to take a WR in this class. We've already missed by slow-playing Malik Gilmore, it'd be a shame to miss on Chesson, too.

I think he's better than Mario was as a junior in high school. It's a matter of whether or not he'll qualify. We can't afford to have depth issues in 2013 at WR with a new QB.

If Burbridge doesn't qualify, and he's the only WR (or one of 2 WRs) in this class, those issues haven't been addressed.

Would you characterize Burbridge's situation as being similar to Rawl's last year?

Not completely. With the Burbridge, we can still lose him; whereas, it wasn't like that with Rawls. Rawls wasn't going to choose Central over Michigan. If we back off, there's other suitors that will step up. Also, I'm not sure where Rawls was at this point last year, but Burbridge is going to have a lot of work to do.
