My hope is that Smith and Gee are really clueless and inept, and they're botching this whole thing. Even if I wasn't a UM fan, I would hope a program as dirty as theirs would get substantially punished. Otherwise, what's the point of following rules if the benefits of breaking them far outweigh the penalties of getting caught? Losing a coach is a given when he covers up and lies to the NCAA. Vacating wins is a given when using ineligible players especially when it's done knowingly. Probation for major violations is a given. Losing your QB is a given when he's as dirty as TP. That's all stuff that is expected, even for the most dedicated of homers. The NCAA has to do something beyond what Ohio is self-imposing or else risk sending the message to all other programs that it's worth cheating. I would be really surprised if they aren't hammered to an extent especially considering they tricked the NCAA into letting the Tat5 play in the Sugar Bowl. osu

About the Kate Upton videos:
I was just trying to reward the latenite folks that were still here so late with me. When I want something to be seen by Michigan fans- this is where I post it. I dont really pay attention if it's Michigan related or recruiting related. If I want my boys to see it- I post it in this thread.
Until we get our own board- im sorry to say: I'm gonna keep doing it. Especially when i'm here late at night & there's only like 5 of us here. I have to keep myself entertained when I can't sleep. If you dont like it- I apoligize. But you're just gonna hafta get over it. It's not too hard to skip over, if that's what you want to do.

My barometer for all this is AJ Green and Georgia last year. His violation for selling the jersey seemed like a one off thing, Georgia did everything else right, and as a result he sat out the first 4 games of the season, and their season seemed to never really recover as a result. Not saying they would have won the SEC, but I do think it ruined their season, and it was right that he got punished.
On the other hand, Tressell finds out about a violation, keeps it a secret, and then lies about it. There need to be bigger penalties than what would have happened anyway, like you said. Needs to be some sort of punishment for taking the risk that you wouldn't get caught at all, and they already got away with this stonewalling BS once with Clarett.
What makes me nervous is that as the allegations stand right now it just doesn't seem like the penalties are going to be much more than what they imposed upon themselves. They aren't tied back in to tryo smith and clarett, there's no mention of the golf course visits that Pryor took, they haven't mentioned these compliance reports that seem to show that the athletic department should have had some idea aobut what was going on, all they have is the original tat gate scandal, which in and of itself I don't see leading to penalties like bowl bans or large loss of scholarships. As long as there's no loack of institutional control penalty I'm not sure the NCAA will punish the program itself that harshly.

I have no issues with it Mack. It's just inconvenient to sift through 5 pages of new posts no matter what the subjects happen to be. That's why I started my post with Dear 24/7 sports and not Dear WolverineMack. It was more for a good laugh than anything. I love boobies too!

The problem with the repair bill is it's a total gray area. "TP had a sick grandmother he needed to go visit in Pennsylvania and his car had been in the shop because he couldn't pay the bill. We knew it would be inappropriate for him to use a loaner vehicle from the dealer again to drive home, so we used the emergency funds to allow him access to his vehicle. He had verbally agreed to repay the funds back." It's a dead-end IMO.
What will get them is the proof of lies and all of these gray area things that don't really turn into major violations. The sheer number of potential things will force the NCAA's hand.
