  • And if one goes down to injury, then we're down to 2 QBs on the depth chart for the season. Doesn't seem logical with 3 options for QB to put your 2 best ones in the game at the same time. QBs get injured in the Big 10. We've seen it with Denard, we saw it with Henne. It's inevitable sometimes, but you don't want to gamble too much and put both your legit options in at the same time.

I agree with EF. Unless the RB is Dunn or the QB is Gunner Kiel or Devin Fuller, I prefer that the coaching staff takes both Pipkins and O'Brien if both want to represent the Maize & Blue.

This is EXACTLY what i was thinking. You literally took every word out of my mouth. From agreeing with EF & including Dunn and both the QB's you mentioned(unfortunately I dont think we'll be getting Kiel or Fuller). Upvotes for the both of ya!

There's no way I could turn away Pipkins or O'Brien for a FB. Or even a QB that I dont think will ever play here, except maybe in emergency situations. I think both of these DT's could be absolute studs.

If I had 8 spots left- they'd be:

    1. Kalis
    2. Wormley
    3. Wilson
    4. Diamond
    5. Pipkens
    6. O'Brien
    7. Burbridge
    8. Dunn

Dont get me wrong- I'd love to get the Washington/Stanford package. If Dunn decides to stay with OSU- maybe the duo could still be an option for us. If not- the 9th spot could go to the QB or FB if its available

I'm not either, this is just my guess as to what will happen. I'd love to get Dunn, Garmon or Marshall, but I don't see it happening.

Marshall is a pipe dream, not going to happen. I wasn't real impressed with Garmons film, i'm starting to come around to the idea of Norfleet if the coaches think he can add some weight. Very impressive film.

  • I haven't seen Norfleet's tape yet but there seems to be a sudden surge of interest in him.

I'm guessing his MVP performance at the IMG Madden Tournament caught a lot of people's attention.

he's quick and shifty and fast, almost like a smaller version of Marshall, though I doubt his top end speed is as fast. If he doesn't put on any more weight then he will just be a RR slotdot/KR, but if he can get up near 190-200 and keep his ability, I think he can be scary and I would hate to play against him if that happened.

That's pretty much what I see. I think Wormley and Pipkens are pretty much locks at this point. I think Diamond is Blue, but I'm not going to consider him a lock right now. My dream final 6 would look like this:

    1. Diamond
    2. Kalis
    3. Wilson
    4. Washington
    5. Stanford
    6. Dunn

I think we at least get Diamond and Wilson. Everyone is saying we will get Kalis. So with Wormley and Pipkens, that leaves 3 spots. Washington and Stanford always talk about visiting, but always cancel. As of right now, I think the writing is on the wall, and they aren't coming to Michigan. I've heard rumors that Dunn didn't really enjoy Ann Arbor, not sure how true they are, but I'm going to leave him off. My realistic final 3 are:

    1. Hill/Fatu Hoke has said he wants to take a RB/FB. I believe him.

The last 2 spots I think will be between 4 players:

    1. Mauk
    2. Burbridge

I think the staff ideally wants to take those two. I think they get at least one of them. I think O'Brien and Day are also in the mix too with the staff perhaps taking one of them.

Ultimately, this is how I think the class will round out:

    1. Wormley
    2. Pipkens
    3. Diamond
    4. Kalis
    5. Wilson
    6. Hill
    7. Mauk
    8. Burbridge

Sorry about the long post, I just wanted to post the roundabout way on how I got my final 8. weights_bar

  • I forgot to point out that I think Burbridge gets his grades in order to join his teammates, thus him being on my final list. I think the real question will be Mauk.

Good lord, give it up. Could it be that there are some nice, intelligent UM posters on here, and some that come and troll our homesite and that maybe I respond differently to the different groups? Quite acting like its a crime against humanity that a Spartan doesn't like UM.

I can have a conversation with guys like theyellowdart, Blue2468, ScoutExile, cwoodson, etc, no problem. Plenty of good football talk and mutual respect.

You, on the other hand . . . I've seen you come on our board and done plenty of trolling; don't pretend as though I've got no reasons for how I post on tRCMB. You, and multiple members of your fan base have stirred up more than your fair share of flame wars on our board. I'm not going to apologize for responding in kind, and I'd expect a UM fan to do the same if I came in this thread and started ripping on your team.

I don't have a problem with you flaming, what I have a problem with is acting like you are above it all here while running back to trcmb and linking threads here for others to flame. You would act as if you were having a nice friendly discussion here, but then at the same time would be posting on trcmb flaming that same guy. That is 2 faced, and you know it. Hell, the only reason I found about tBB is from one of your links to it on trcmb making fun of a Michigan fan right after pretending to be respectful to the guy.

As for me at trcmb, the main reasons I used to visit the site was for local news (I live near EL), and all of the Michigan talk. I don't think I ever started a thread, and I would get flamed for responding to anything at that site. My screen name brings the downvotes and attacks above anything I post. It's to be expected for where I was, but the reaction there if I responded in kind to flames was hilarious. Never seen such an insecure fan base.

  • It just doesn't look like Adolphus Washington is going to be part of this class. Until he visits I am not even getting my hopes up a little. Great talent but seems to have an eye on the south.

Now.... If Pittman passes the OGT.... then things could open back up there.

I agree on all accounts. Pittman sounds like a soft verbal right now.

Devin Gardner is a solid 6'4" and 210 lbs and supposedly has (electronically timed) 4.5 speed.

I think we should perodically line him up at WR so that he's occasionally contributing on the field rather than just standing on the sidelines...
    -----

I don't like this idea(see Drew Stanton)...You can't send DG out on a route with a safety looking to take his head off. Why be gimmicky?

signature image signature image signature image

    RicoX19

  • Just because DG was good at a camp with some decent talent does not show me he can be a serviceable WR. Those camps are geared for WRs to succeed. Honestly I don't see how his hands or route running would be better than any of the Top 6 WRs Michigan has.

Then you have to suit up Russell Bellomy if DG gets hurt because the way Denard plays, he is going to get nicked up.

    jnewberg24

  • Unless they take a QB this year, I would say no to any of the QBs playing any other positions. The thought of that is just stupid with only three scholarship QBs. Unless you guys want Kennedy to start...and we know how the season would go after that.

I agree with this. Right now, we are OK at QB because we can put in DG if Denard get hurt and not experience too much of a drop-off. Different situation if you play DG and he gets hurt. Bellomy has no snaps. Big drop off if he has to play (no disrespect to him but that's reality as a new player). QB is just too critical. It would be a different story if DG was your 3rd string QB or if DG and Bellomy were roughly equivalent.

I would switch him with Alden Hill.

Still would take that class in a heartbeat.

That's why I like to take a QB every year. If we are going to have a QB who runs for 700-800 yards, they are bound to get hurt. Look at Purdue last year if you think 4th string QBs don't play.

I almost agree with your list completly, even more how you broke it down. With Washington and Stanford canceling visit to UM right now I think they go elsewere. I really like Mauk but what happened to Appleby I also really liked his film? (More of a question than a comparison)

And lastly I just think DT is more important than FB, a position we can easily use Morgan or a walk-on. So I'd take O'Brien over Hill just on the basis of need.

What's wrong with a man giving away a golden shower? Sounds like a nice gift to me.

  • DT more important than FB? Obviously Hoke's oppinion differs, in order to run the offense he wants, he wants an elite fullback- I'd rather have an important piece on offense than multiple DTs when you are gonna end up sliding one of the DE inside.

I've had these same thoughts about FB vs. another DT. Why would you want a walkon-type as one of your 11 starters on offense compared to having one less DT in the depth chart?

BUT.. I also look at it asking this question: If you were the Detroit Lions, would you be more excited about having Suh and Fairley w/ a random FB, or Suh + random DT + Leonard Weaver (voted one of the top FBs in the NFL last year)? So I think Pipkins + O'Brien would be better than getting a FB, but Pipkins/O'Brien + random 3* DT not as good as getting a top FB.
