ugh, walkon freshmen battling to break the 2-deep on OL doesn't speak well for out depth.

That's why we were forced to load up in this class. Some of our current OL recruits won't have to redshirt, and there's a possibility they could even start. facepalm_msu

And is he really at DT? I think they had him listed as a DT for the spring game too but he was playing DE I believe.

I believe he is up close to 280. Probably RVB's position, but not sure.

Keep an eye/ear out for updates on Graham Glasgow, Gary Yerden, Kristian Mateus, and Erik Gunderson-- all walk-ons, who battling to break the 2-deep.

Thats not a good sign for Posada and Bryant. I think they came in out of shape maybe.

They may be in the mix (well, one of them is), but those are the walk-ons that are being looked at.

That's what I had initially assumed but he keeps getting listed as a DT. The 5 tech is still considered DE.

They want to take 10 total over 2012/13. So if they get 6 this year, they will look to take 4 next year.

So far, it's being kept under wraps. No one will know for another 19 days.

It could be a true freshman.

Michigan's freshman RBs drawing rave reviews | Detroit Free Press | freep.com

Michigan's biggest offensive unknown is at tailback, where the Wolverines expect to have one primary back and one as third-down relief. Yet running backs coach Fred Jackson, the only coaching constant through the past three Michigan staffs, is thrilled with the prospects, particularly freshmen Thomas Rawls and Justice Hayes.

  • Sorry if this is a remedial type question.....1st year I'm really watching the recruiting process closely. I get the whole concept that a "solid verbal" commit from a recruit can fly out the window between now and NSD. Forgetting whether or not anyone thinks he will or not.....nobody on here will be terribly surprised if T-Rich finds another school that fits his eye and his heart better than Michigan. The primary point here is that it's completely within his right to make that switch all the way up until NSD when he'll sign a LOI with somebody. (this is a hypothetical example to illustrate that this could happen and almost certainly will for a number of commits across the nation).

However, If a recruit can decommit from a solid verbal, then why can't a school (or maybe they do????). Once again....hypothetical, but let's say Yuri Wright wants to commit to Michigan, but we don't have anymore slots for CB in our plans. Can we decommit from T-Rich or Standifer and give the scholly to Wright? I've never heard anyone mention this as a possibility, so I'll assume not.....but why not. Is it that it's allowed, it's just something schools don't do because then it'll be impossible to get any kids to commit there in the future?

Again....sorry for the Recruiting 101 type question.

Depends who you ask, a lot like Mike Cox. Others like Vincent Smith or Mike Shaw. Some like our freshmen. We really don't know.

For our workhorse back, I'd guess it'd be Shaw, Rawls, or Cox.

It's allowed, and sometimes it happens. It doesn't happen here at Michigan, even if a commit is seriously injured, we'll still sign them. Christian Pace and Vlad Emilien are an example of this.

A lot of SEC schools probably do that, so it's kind of in the same vein as oversigning. It's technically allowed, but it's slimy and icky to get involved in. I can never recall Michigan withdrawing an offer from a commit just for getting a higher-rated guy. They may not accept a commitment, or they may pull an offer before someone commits, but we will NOT go away from T-Rich or Standifer unless they want out.

The coaching staff knew the position they were in with the other guys, and they still accepting commits from these guys. It shows they like them, and so do I.

Random question for my fellow Michigan posters, is anyone looking for tickets or know anyone that is? I have 4 tickets to Purdue, Minny, and EMU that I'm trying to get rid of and I'm not trying to make a profit.
