Yeah, saw it yesterday (I think). We'll see what happens, but I wouldn't expect too much to come of this, but I have been wrong before.

"Shapiro, who contributed $150,000 to the UM athletic program, pled guilty in June for running a $930 million Ponzi scheme and was given a 20-year sentence. He stated in April 2010 that he plans on writing a “tell-all book” about his involvement with former UM players. "

"NFL players Tavares Gooden, Devin Hester, Jon Beason, and Randy Phillips are mentioned by sources as being mentioned with Shapiro as well as “other household names” and former quarterback Kyle Wright."

What I've heard is that this story is the "10" that's going to come out...

We'll see what he actually says and whether or not the statute of limitations has run out. This doesn't sound like a 10 to me, not if OSU was an 8.

Kyle Wright, man what a bust he was, bum.

“That’s the type of dude he was. He had like a Napoleon complex. He had to be on top of the world all of the time."

No, they're absolutely f*cked, dude. I've never heard of a (rule-breaking) booster having this much money, and his personality means he'll tell everything. The only thing that can save them is the statute of limitations.

I wonder how many years this goes back. It seemed like some of those teams in the late 90s and early to mid 2000s had lots of NFL talent.

Based on some of the names in the article, it was at least early 2000's for sure. I really hope it isn't true.

I mean, we're putting an uncommon amount of faith in a guy that just finished his sophomore year of high school. The kid just got his driver's license, and we're counting on him to lead our team for 2-3 years.

I think he could easily live up to the hype, but he's got a long way to go. Bellomy's been pretty impressive, and I wouldn't be shocked if he starts for a year. He'll definitely get some PT.

Also, if we want to redshirt Morris, Bellomy will be Gardner's primary backup for at least a year (possibly two). QB's get hurt all the time and Bellomy will very likely see some time on the field, either because Gardner is dinged up or in clean up duty. At that point, how he performs will determine to what extent he will ever seriously challenge for the starting job.

"Though there is a four-year statute of limitations on NCAA violations, Perez said some of the incidents occurred within the past four years, while others occurred before that.

He donated money to the school, and had a lounge named after him. After being arrested, the school cut ties and he was peeved (plus the feds demanded to know where the money went).

  • Hope I'm not interrupting. Just wondering what you guys expect with William Campbell this year. Tried to keep up with him since his recruitment.

At best: solid year with flashes of brilliance.
At worst: Starts, eats space, makes double-teaming Martin a bad idea, and shows some potential

With how much time these coaches have put in on BWC, I expect results.

One of those kids I feel will be drafted off of physical attributes alone. Does he have the want to be great? God knows he's got the tools.

I think it was mix of the desire and the motivation needed to get him to perform at his best. He now has three different DL coaches scrutinizing his every move during practice and the report is that he has done what the coaches have asked him to do. It is now a matter of being consistent with technique and effort.

He's lost a ton of weight in the off-season (probably around 295), and turned into a gymrat. If you ever play basketball at the CCRB, you'll probably run into him. Yes, he can dunk.

  • Miami is a program that - with the help of a good coaching staff that doubles as very good/great recruiters - can change its fortune in 2 years.

The South Florida talent pool is insanely loaded. If Michigan produced half as many studs as SoFla produces, Michigan would be much better than Ohio in talent. But alas, that isn't the case.

The problem with Miami is weak fan support...especially since the stadium is off-campus. The Orange Bowl was destroyed to make way for Sun Life stadium stadium. The Orange Bowl meant something to Hurricane fans. It was something of a rallying place.

Also, Miami's facilities are average and have been for a number of years. However, I was told that the football program would be getting a major upgrade with new, much improved facilities.

But the amazing talent pool is what makes Miami an elite job. A great coach that has the benefit of great recruiters can absolutely dominate college football.

The thing about the Miami job is that the recruiters really shouldn't have to cheat. If one 5-star recruit is a prima donna or has questionable guardians/handles, then let him be. There's another kid in the surrounding area who is at least a solid 4 star and would run through a brick wall to earn a Miami scholarship and play for the Canes.

I'll say this: I saw [Bellomy] in person for the first time on fan day, and he looked shorter than I imagined him...

    That doesn't bother me.

Colt McCoy was often listed at 6'3" (and even 6'4") when he played at Texas.

Turns out that he's really 6'1 or so.

(I'm not suggesting that Bellomy will be like Colt McCoy in college...I'm merely giving an instance where there is a discrepancy in listed and actual height.)

Last I heard he was at 317, down from 342.
