Michigan Thread

  • Should we just have this thread locked?

    Someone called Chuck a communist. Chuck, EF, Blue, buttesnake, and a few others have been contently contributing to the thread, yet someone wants to take shots at them? Without one of those contributors, this thread would have died. Those guys are invaluable to the Michigan community on tBB.

    Then I recently have had people calling me out and dismissing my writing as mixing and summarizing the coverage of Rivals, Scout, and mgoblog. How am I going to say different things when I get the same correct information and I only have a couple dozen possible recruits to cover? The scope of covering Michigan recruiting is so narrow right now that I'm really reaching right now to get a scoop that those guys haven't got covered. If I started interviewing these recruits and posting that, I'd be stepping on 247's toes.

    On a side note, I always preface my posts when I'm writing about a rumor from somewhere other than a primary source. I appreciate all the new posters in this thread, but some of you guys are killing this thread when you call me out for things like that. If you've been part of the community for long, you'd be able to delineate information I've gotten from a primary source, and rumors that I've from a second or third party.

    dude you're doing a great job dont worry about the other people and just keep posting. if they have a problem about you're sources they can go to mgoblog where every thing is an argument and enjoy themselves. i think this should be like the big ten roundtable where only certain people contribute with others chipping in info not previously covered.

  • Good post, Scout. I'd rather keep this thread open because it's a great source for a constant stream of valuable info. Any new thread will have the same type of detractors. I believe I cite my source for every bit of info I post here. I'm no insider; I just read a lot. Enjoy the info and rumors posted here and discuss them. How hard is that?

  • Scout, any word on Dual threat QB Mike Simpson out of Ohio, teammates with commit Kaleb Ringer, getting close to a offer? he has said on twitter that the offers are starting to pour in and michigan is close and followed that up with a #Goblue

    I'm no insider, but I wouldn't expect anything to happen with QB's until after Gunner and Mauk have chosen their destinations.

    i know Gunner isn't coming here and i'm really not a fan of Mauk i think he will just be a backup QB for the next 4 years, he is better off going to Mizzou. if you havent i suggest you go watch mike simpsons highlights they are pretty good he has good mechanics and has a good foot work motion. doesnt have the strongest arm but puts really good touch on the ball and hits his slow receivers in motion.

    You seem to do a great job. Do you know anything about basketball recruiting? I know 5* McGary was in AA today but I don't know how realistic are chances are. That would be big time for JB.

    not really he reminds me of the current philip rivers playing against a DII defense. his stats are terrible inflated because of the offense they run, he ma be good but he doesnt seem to have a lot of upside. so in that aspect that he doesnt have a lot of upside he is a lot like tate. i think we need a QB this year truly we only have 3 Schollie QBs and thats scary. this is a really weak QB year and i think we should just really push for Devin Fuller who can play QB but we could use him as a WR or a CB.

    I tend to agree with you. I'm not a huge Mauk guy myself, but he might be our best option at this point. Personally, I would use the scholly elsewhere, but the coaches have said they want a QB every year. We'll see.

    im not really a big fan of Pike either i think he will be a solid QB but he's nothing special and doesnt deserve that 5-star rating. this class is really not good for QBs there is no "wow that guy will be great" like there is in the class of 2013 like shane morris and another guy whose name escapes me

    I forgot where I read it, probably MGoBlog, but I remember Devin Fuller stating he wanted to visit Michigan. I'll go back and look at the archives to see if I can find a link.

    Maybe with a nice season by Denard- we could work that to our advantage getting Fuller.

    I'm sure they'd give him a shot at QB. Even though he tries to give them an idea of where they could end up playing, Hoke does offer kids as athletes.

    That's because he's almost a carbon copy of Denard Robinson and given that coaches see what Robinson can do, why not go after such a player?

    I'm hoping that Fuller will come to Michigan and get a shot at QB. If it doesn't work out, then we can at least use him as a RB or as a WR (assuming he doesn't transfer).

    Edit: I'm hoping that Robinson will play exceptionally well under Borges's adapted system. That could go a long way in convincing Fuller that he can be a QB at Michigan.

    Fuller is actually my top choice at QB because of his versatility and upside.

    I believe he's been offered as a QB. I agree regarding Denard's performance in this offense. Perhaps the hybrid offense works out and Fuller decides he can see himself playing at Michigan.
