    What did the petition regard?

One of the chick fila owners didn't agree with homo sexual behavior ( but said he would still hire them). You know, fast food restaurants and the us military are social proving grounds. So because some guy thinks its wrong to take it up the @$$ from another man, he's a bigot.

    Alabama
    Michigan
    Nebraska
    Notre Dame
    Oklahoma
    Texas
    USC
    Ohio St

I propose all these schools get a blue bloods badge

I agree, and since 1 school has dominated...

    Ohio State - 7 times in a row (and 8 of 9)
    Oklahoma - 5 in a row (and 6 of 7)
    Michigan - 3 in a row (and 6 of 7)
Alabama - 1 of the last 2 (Edit: for Better off, you like it?)
    Nebraska - 3 in a row
    Texas - 4 out of 5
and Notre Dame - 9 of the last 11

..their badge will carry the crown, so all of those other blue bloods can pay homage
to the King of the blue bloods, the Trojans of USC. bow

Not that they need me as a cheerleader, but I think Bama deserves to be on that list. JMHO.

    Yeah, I said it.

If Notre Dame isn't blue blood then college football is meaningless, and lol at Michigan call out all time records when they refused to play us and ban other big 10 schools from playing us as soon as we got good. Take away wins from schools that no longer exist or weren't even D1 when they played and Michigan's stats are far less impressive. Even with all that said, eliminating Michigan from "blue bloods" is absurd...

And Notre Dame is doing that exact same thing next year....

If there were to be a ''king of blue bloods'' it would definately be Alabama. Most titles of any of us. Sorry.

  • I do not like TTUN but..

They are truly a blue blood

TTUN - old old old money. most wins all time even though they were dominate 80 years ago.
Notre Dame - old old money
tOSU - old money with a mix of young(flashy)money
    Texas is a blue blood.

Schools like Oregon, Miami, Boise st are all young flashy money

USC on the road vs the blue bloods

    vs Bama 2-0
    Ohio St 2 in a row & 4-4 all-time
    Oklahoma 2 in a row & 3-1 all-time
    NEB 2-0 all-time
    Texas 2-0 all-time
    Mich 1 loss 0-1 all-time
vs Notre Dame - currently 5 road wins in a row

Damn, if it wasn't for that 1 pt loss in the Big House.
Still, USC has a road winning streak of at least 2 games vs every other blue blood (6 of 7)
Alabama is the only one that has returned the favor.

I threw in a sweet edit just for you sunshine. sarcasm

Edit Part Deux: Actually left Bama off because they didn't get dominated by SC like the rest.
(Although, the double digit road win over Alabama in 1978 for the Natty was dominate enough for me)

  • shrug to the OP, it's pretty obvious that Michigan hasn't been truly elite in a while. That's no surprise. Hopefully we're building back to the point where we can have seasons like 2006 where we play for a chance at the NCG. I'm very optimistic that we'll be one of the top teams in the Big Ten from here on out with how Hoke is building our program, but we won't be able to contend with the Alabamas of the world for a while. JMO.

I obviously think we belong on a list of blue bloods, as the term blue blood refers more to historical data than "what have you done for me lately" but I can see the merit. We'll see what happens the next few years - should be fun to watch.

No, you can't be King of the blue bloods
when you have a losing record against other blue bloods.

    Alabama is
    1-7-1 vs Texas
    2-5 vs ND
    1-2-1 vs Oklahoma
    2-2 vs Michigan
    5-2 vs USC
    3-0 vs Ohio St
    3-2 vs Neb

Alabama is 17-20-2 vs the other 7

That's smoke n mirrors, not royalty

But they have a thousand NCs and are easily the best team right now. So right now, they are king of the blue bloods without question. As BetterOff said, I would have called USC the king of the blue bloods 5 years or so ago.

I agree. Everyone on that list has had a bad stretch or two over the past 30-40 years. If the past 20 years haven't cost ND a spot on the list , then I think Michigan deserves to be there.

None of that matters though. In theory you could never play any other blue blood school and still win national championships under the current system. The playoff may help that but we will see. All of the teams on that
List could have 10 straight losing seasons, and they still would be blue bloods. Their ability to go from the bottom to the top in a few years is what sets them apart from other schools.

Well that looks to me like Alabama has a strong winning record against USC and OSU, up 1 on NEB, tied with Michigan and down 1 against OU. Yes we're down to Texas and ND, but over the course of history if you've only played 9 and 7 games against an opponent respectively, sometimes the numbers will fall that way. Considering we have beaten both of those teams for NCs during a dynasty run, I think we've still got a great argument for the king blue blood. USC has the same losing record against us as we do against ND.... So I guess you can't claim it either by your logic.

As we've talked about in blue blood threads before, Alabama has a smaller sample size against the 8 blue bloods due to being the only team of the 8 without a rival or conference member in the group. The reason why? Because we've owned the SEC. We have prevented any other SEC team from reaching the top 8 (keeping Florida, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, and Tennessee ALL in the top 15 range). What other conference has a "Big 6" like that? None. And Alabama has singlehandedly prevented them from breaking into the top 8 because of our dominance over time. We have a winning record vs all those teams, many times a large one. That's pretty strong evidence.
