  • He has the Lions taking a 3-4 linebacker. I have a tough time believing that.

Courtney had his hands in the dirt a lot at Alabama, but he is still a 3-4 player. I don't see it either.

First time in a long time I have not really paid attention to any. Mock drafts are just a manufactured story with very little truth.

"Might be the only team to feel he is a first-rounder."

    Haven't heard that before.

What happened in the last few weeks? I thought Hightower was the borderline one...

(I think Hightower will be a stud)

Hightower looks locked into getting picked by either the Ravens or the Steelers. If those two some how pass him up then he could fall
    to early-mid 2nd.

I'm not totally sure about Upshaw. I know he didn't have the greatest workouts, but it seems his biggest problem is his "tweener" label.

Trent and Barron are locked within the first 16. Dre,Courtney and Dont'a have risen and fallen all the way up to the draft. I think the biggest thing that they benefit from is that there are a lot of late first round teams like Pittsburgh,Baltimore and New England who will sweep them up if available, teams that have connections to Saban (NE)/Alabama (Baltimore),play similar defenses (all three), or have needs (Pitt).

Edit: TIFWIW but there are also rumors of teams not having Dre as high as analysts have him and say he is "falling". Some think it's a smokescreen, others say its because of character issues and some certain measurables. IMO, he is certainly better than everyone but Claiborne and Gilmore (and personally I like him better than Gilmore because of consistency).

Yeah all kinds of crap starts swirling in the days leading up. I guess we'll find out tomorrow, but I doubt any of them drop out of the 1st.

  • The more I read of these Mock Drafts, the more I realize these guys (for most part) have no clue what they are talking about.

  • Do you bama fans see Kirkpatrick as a CB at the next level or do you think he'll eventually move over to free safety? I'm a big pats fan and while I'd love adding Smith from ND or Barron by some miracle, those guys seem more like up in the box type guys who are adequate in pass defense but not great. The pats already have that in Patrick Chung we need a a guy who can step in and help the pass defense right away... so pretty much anyone. I think Dre has potential to be a great NFL free safety. Wouldn't be mad to see one of the 1st rounders go to him or the safety out of LSU in the middle rounds.

CB all the way. Not many 6'3 corners that run sub 4.4's. Him and upshaw are the ones I'm worried will fall to the second round. If they do fall teams will regret not taking them in the first

    Dre isn't that either. 6'1 1/2", 4.51 in the 40. Big difference between sub 4.4 and 4.51.....about 1.25 to 1.5 yards over 40 yards.

Dre can be a hybrid CB/Free Safety. He is very physical but I question his long speed and hip flexibility. I think he could play a role similar to what Charles Woodson plays for Green Bay. I think Dre would be more effective at Free Safety.

Watch out for Upshaw to the Patriots.

  • Mayock usually gets quite a bit right. However, I'm extremely confident the Bills will not be choosing Luke Kuechly at 10.

You mean like when he said Blaine Gabbert was a much better QB prospect than Cam Newton or Gerald McCoy was better than Suh or Earl Thomas was better than Eric Berry. Perhaps he just likes to go against the obvious quite a bit.

Sometimes he does like to go against the grain. And when I say he's right quite a bit, I mean in predicting which team will draft who, not necessarily with his evaluations.

He played with his hand in the dirt 80% of the time so he was virtually a DE for us.
