Mike Slive is skeered to play up north

  • Slive thinks it's a disadvantage to play the semi games at home sites. Apparently making fans pay to travel twice in a month is ok though. Also, he's perfectly fine with LSU playing in NOLA for championship games.

"The NCAA basketball tournament is not played on home floor - for a reason," Mike Slive said.

Slive cites "competitive disadvantage" as the knock against home sites.

    He scared.

Having to pay to travel to two games affects all fans.

Not that a MSU fan would ever have to worry about it though.

  • Mike Slive wouldve had semi final games played in 2 different SEC stadiums last year. His position hurts the SEC. I support your point OP..

  • It is kinda BS.

Neutral sites better feature some Northern cities also, like Indy or Detroit. It's a "competitive advantage" only having to travel 100 miles, vs say 500 miles and leads to southern teams having some sort of home field advantage.

Plus it would have been way cooler having a playoff at your home stadium.

And that would potentially happen for half the teams anyways.

it doesnt matter where the games are played, teams like Alabama will still have more fans than Stanford and Oklahoma State. I dont see what the big deal is. From a marketing standpoint, the southern states and California offer the best venues. Michigan and Ohio are cold azz, places that dont attract tourist in winter months. Dont blame the SEC for that, blame god. He made them cold states.

    EDJR30

  • Seriously, no one in their right mind wants to do that

The Super Bowl has succeeded in places like Indy, Detroit, and NYC next, why can't college football be the same?

I'm not arguing for outdoor games, just saying that games shouldn't be played in SEC territory every year. Having a rotation of like Texas, Georgia, Louisiana, California, Michigan, Indiana would be fair for everybody.

And sure it matters where games are played, in a place like Florida it's unlikely Stanford would be very well represented, where it's like a home game for many SEC teams. That shouldn't be tolerated.

No one wants a home playoff game? Not sure if serious.

Sitting in the cold for a football game is kind of fun, you just get super wasted and cheer your ass off to warm up. Leads to a even more raucous crowd IMO.

Its fun for the home fans maybe. No one wants to travel to a neutral site and freeze their azz off for 3hrs...

Pvssies. Football in the cold would almost benefit SEC teams more (not that they need it right now). Tough defense, run games benefit playing in the cold.

But yet again I am just saying games should be rotated through neutral sites, not kept in the heart of SEC territory every year.

  • Big ten fans make it easy to hate them. They have so much envy for the SEC its not even funny. In the past 15 years in their scenario they would have hosted 3 games. They say the SEC is scared and dont factor in if their stadiums have corporate suites, media seating for the biggest event outside the super bowl and hotels to accommodate everyone. No its the SECs scared. Also get of your high horse on the Rose Bowl. I say we leave them out and let them beg to get back in.

Nice stereo type. It's like me saying SEC fans are all fat, ugly, toothless, uneducated hicks.

You don't think Lucas Oil has big corporate suites smart guy? I guess that is why the Super Bowl was there. Same with Ford Field.

Also I don't think everyone cares that much about the Rose Bowl, I mean it's great. Rather play for a Natty though.

  • I think they should move the Rose Bowl game to Indianapolis every other year to even things up.
