Miles on Tamu and Mizzou

  • Joining the SEC.

"As for Texas A&M and Missouri joining the SEC: "I would say strap it up," Miles said. "They're going to really not enjoy their welcoming to this conference"

  • I think we're all underestimating our two new members... worries me a little. We've never beaten Missouri if memory serves me correctly, and playing them in Columbia doesn't help I'm sure.

  • I thought we were going undefeated... guess ill have to rethink that

  • Both teams will be very capable of beating nearly anyone in the league. The toll will be felt when they play Bama, LSU, MSU, Arky in four straight weeks or UF/UGA/USCe then think they have a week off with Vandy, only to find out that taking them lightly was a mistake.

  • They'll both do better than people think.

There's no shame in going 11-1. Just don't make it a habit.

we're 1-2 vs mizzou. but we weren't exactly good those years. mizzou wasn't great either, but not like they beat strong bama teams.

i think people are undervaluing them, but i also think both have a tough stretch that could catch them off guard.

for mizzou, the early stretch of
    GEORGIA
    ARIZ. ST
    @S CAROLINA
    @UCF
    VANDERBILT
    ALABAMA

looks tough. uga, usc and bama should all be favs (or pickem at worst). zona st beat them last year, so no push over there, and we all know about vandy if you over look them. i could see 2-4 during that stretch, 3-3 likely though.

they also have this stretch to end the season:
    KENTUCKY @FLORIDA @TENNESSEE SYRACUSE @TEXAS A&M

not as bad, but uf and ut are 2 of the tougher places to play at in the nation, and back to back will be more than a challenge.

    .

for a&m, it isn't as bad over the whole year, but this stretch is brutal, imo:

    LSU @AUBURN @MISS ST @ALABAMA

could seriously see 0-4 there. 1-3 is most likely, but 2-2 i would consider a decent/good job of navigating that.

    .

for both, over the course of the season, i think 8-4/7-5 would be about what i'd expect, with 9-3 being good, 6-6 being somewhat disappointing.

I really hope LSU and Les Miles back up the welcome talk in the A&M game. I would love to get them with a lot of burting players. Bama is going to get them at their weakest though it looks like.

  • TAMU has a golden opportunity week 2 when UF comes to College Station. Their crowd will be absolutely bananas, Florida will have a very containable offense and a defense with no pass rush to speak of.

siap...75, our only loss, 78, ap national champs, sucked in the late 60's...mizzou was good those years...lsu is a great program...NOW...but they had 8 losing seasons in the 11 years previous to Saban...lester better not get to big for his britches...he's a dipschitt coach surrounded by insane talent...and he proved that last year in many ways...he was born on third base and thought he hit a triple.

Yes some kids would be attracted to a coach that sounds like a punk kid.

you're absolutely right. somehow i looked up their record for those years instead of bama's. oops. it happens.

    68 bama was 8-3.
    75 was 11-1.
    78 was 11-1.

No one is taking you lightly. Just stating facts most Gators even admit. You're still going to be a hell of an out for every team on your schedule. But you have a couple fatal flaws that could be really exposed in a place like College Station.

Powell will be back for our game and then you have a pass rush. Not a good or great one but much better then at the beginning of the year when you have nothing.

    FIFY.

A&M will be lucky to do better than .500.

They have no defense and an offense that will put even more pressure on their defense unless they just have it clicking from the jump (which ain't going to happen).

IF Garrett Gilbert wasn't in line to start at SMU, I'd put money on SMU to cover and possibly beat A&M.

I think all of you SEC fans are overvaluing A&M.

Last season they had the best team they've had in years, and look how that worked out for them. Numerous epic collapses with a "top ten overall" draft pick leading the offense. Coach fired.

I don't know what's going to be more fun to watch. The Big XII farewell tour (which was epic and hilarious) or the SEC welcoming tour (which I hope is just as epic and hilarious). Either way, I'll be watching because I love me some aggy misery.

  • TAMU will go 6-6 at best with only two SEC wins this season. Not having a proven QB will kill them

Mizzou, idk, mizzou might finish anywhere from 5-7 to 8-4

that 75 loss still stings...78 was a great victory for Bama in columbia...mizzou did Bama a huge favor beating nebraska at the end of the year or penn st would have played nebraska in the orange bowl...we know the rest of the story.
