Mo Claiborne's Wonderlic score

  • RWC5113 said...

The scary thing to me is, though, if Morris Claiborne stayed at LSU for another year, he would have graduated!
So after 4 years, the University gives this man a degree when he shows signs of illiteracy on an extremely basic standardized test.
THAT'S what's scary to me. That a guy like this, I assume, was on track for a degree. Even though it's pretty obvious he probably didn't/wouldn't have earned that degree and just got by because he can run, jump, catch, and tackle.

At first I laughed because it's a horrifically low score, but honestly it's pretty damn sad.

sounds like the dude would have trouble counting to twenty without taking off his shoes and socks....

seriously though.. how can you score a 4..... even if you just picked the same letter all the time you would have to score more than that...

or maybe it takes sheer genius to be able to score that low...

  • This this article from ESPN that cites a study done by Towson University is to be trusted, Claiborne will be in Canton someday.

There is "a negative relationship [between Wonderlic score and NFL performance] for tight ends and defensive backs. For defensive backs, it was the most pronounced; basically, the lower you scored on the Wonderlic, the better you performed."

Former LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne, the highest-rated cornerback in the NFL draft, scored a 4 out of 50 on the Wonderlic Test administered to prospects at the NFL Scouting Combine in February, sources confirmed to ESPN.

The kid can play, that isn't up for debate. How he got into LSU and them remained eligible for 3yrs, yeah, somebody should explain that one.

  • Wait a minute..I read somewhere that Mo had learning disabilities not related to intelligence. It does happen. On the other end of the discussion, a young man graduated from Harvard approximately five years ago, with profound dyslexia...his mother attended every class with him and took notes for him.

LSU more than likely, offered him the assistance he needed in note taking or oral exams. Nothing wrong with that...actually, commendable.

Let's not malign this young man's name without knowing all the facts.

He just processes information differently. I would imagine that the wonderlic for him, in the conventional setting - which is timed, would be akin to any one of us taking the test - written in a foreign language we can barely grasp. Even if you know the answers...the translation slows you down.

Hold your head up Mo...there are ignorant ones out there that know not what they speak.
