Most athletic athletes?

  • Which sport do u think is the most athletic sport? Sport only, not athlete. I think basketball. GO

  • I'd have a hard time saying basketball. The skills required of basketball players are things children learn by the age of 2. Catch ball. Throw ball. Bounce Ball. Run. Jump.

I guess to answer your question I'd have to known if you're asking what sport has the best athletes? Or if you're asking what sport requires the most athleticism to play at a high level.

  • I don't think you can go wrong with basketball or football. Football has a bunch of guys that shouldn't be able to do what they do at their size.

  • I think basketball may have the best athletes but Hockey has got to be the most physically demanding of all sports.

  • I'd say football. If you look at the NFL & NBA Combine numbers, surprisingly NFL DBs, WRs and some RBs are much more explosive than basketball players in terms of no-step vertical. If footballers are outperforming basketball players at what hoopsters are known for....I'd give them the edge.

Kevin Durant is moving up in my favorite All-Time Athletes list. Mama raised him right.

  • Sure, it's like distance running, your body is trained. Skate a hockey shift and get hit then come back and talk swimming.

It really depends on what your definition of "athleticism" is, but from a measurables standpoint football players(on average) blow basketball players out of the water. The average skill position football player is simply faster, stronger, and more explosive than 95% of world-class basketball players. Most people would be blown away how physically weak some basketball players are; Kevin Durant is not an anomaly in the NBA by not being able to even bench press 135lbs, I have worked with a few who are in the same boat.

What LOL?Name me one football player that could go be a top level basketball player right now?I can name several basketball players that would dominate football right now.

Close, water polo is swimming plus rugby plus soccer.

I've seen multi-sport athletes get out of a pool gassed after a water polo try out.

I guess I'd agree. Never really played exept for Gym class in HS. Just a question because I really don't know...Wouldn't my whole swimming debate be relevant? Meaning your body would be conditioned?

I get that any athlete is well conditioned but my argument for Hockey is not only endurance but the physical beating you take. Regardless it's a good debate.

  • TENNIS

In the past 10 years, tennis has started working it's way right up to the top. I know the OP said not to bring up specific athletes, but look at Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokavic. They are world class in

    1. Agility
    2. Balance
    3. Hand-eye coordination
    4. overall cardio fitness
    5. flexibility

In speed and strength, they are as physically imposing as the basketball guards. Nadal has been timed at a 4.3 forty, for example, by the French Tennis Federation. They are getting taller too. The average height of a top ten player is now about 6'2".

When they joined the pro tour, people like Nadal/Djokavic were anomalies. Now their body types and skill sets are becoming more the norm.

  • I say basketball. Football players lift to gain alot of explosiveness. most bballers dont lift like that. Most of their results are natural for the most part.
