Most important commits...

  • Looking at the top 10 classes, here's who I think are the most important single commits to this point for each class.

Alabama- Derrick Henry. I don't know where he ends up playing, but they went and got the biggest freak in the country out of a highly-competitive state and it set the tone for rounding out what probably will end up being the top class in the country again.

Ohio State- JT Barrett. Even with the injury, Barrett is still one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the country and a perfect fit in Ohio State's offense. Plus, they went down to Texas and got him.

Florida- Kelvin Taylor. If you are the Gators, there is no way around making sure that the son of a Gator great who also happens to be a top two running back prospect nationally wears orange and blue.

Michigan- Some will argue Derrick Green and I see their point, but I think it has to be Shane Morris. He was extremely instrumental in helping the coaching staff put this outstanding class together and though Green was a huge get, had the Wolverines lost him, they still would have had an outstanding running back in this class in Smith.

Notre Dame- Jaylon Smith. The Irish landed one of the top overall prospects in the country (No. 2 in the 247Composite) and his brother plays at Ohio State. Huge recruiting win for a great prospect.

USC- Max Browne. If you are the Trojans, you always want the top quarterback on the West Coast and Browne is the top quarterback in the country according to the 247Composite. At such a critical position, it's paramount to recruit it well if you are going to be a national contender and getting Browne is as good as it gets.

LSU- Andy Dodd. If you are the Tigers, you want to swipe one from Alabama every chance you get and Dodd is strong, athletic and in time has the chance to be a great offensive lineman. There are higher-ranked prospects in this class for sure, but Dodd was a huge win on the recruiting trail.

Texas A&M- Ricky Seals-Jones. It's never a bad thing to land the top prospect in Texas and it's even better when it's a great athlete like Seals-Jones who was once committed to your hated rival and who can potentially come in and help create mismatches in the passing game next season.

Georgia- Brice Ramsey. Ramsey not only committed early to the Bulldogs, but he's helped recruit many of the other prospects in the class. The strong-armed quarterback is a perfect fit in Mike Bobo's offense and has a ton of upside. He's just going to get better.

Texas- Desmond Harrison. The Longhorns still don't have an ideal situation on the offensive line and getting an impact JUCO like Harrison can help their cause quickly. I think it gets lost on folks just how big landing him was for Texas.

Dodd and Burns... class could have been even better.

I agree with the Henry pick. Even though he likely will play a position we're stacked at, he's got all the makings of a great leader early-on in his career and is an extremely rare athlete. He'll be one of if not our most important player before he leaves.

  • Florida State - Ira Denson/and now Denver Kirkland as a 1A and 1B

Hoefeld being next in line as we finally found a center, however look for Trickett to move him to LT for a reason nobody can figure out

Everybody else in this class is just filling positions with more talent

Yeah and he's an out of state, record-breaking athlete who was committed to perhaps your primary recruiting rival for nearly a year.

It's not like Alabama needed momentum to land great players, but that was a big win.

Hey now. He didn't have a great year on the field and I know he's trolled other fanbases on Twitter, but he was paramount to this Michigan class. He set the tone.

I think he will do quite well in Ann Arbor with some development which will lead to more consistency.

Also if just half of the offensive linemen they've brought in develop as expected, they will be able to protect him and also run the football to keep defenses honest.

I was just messing with you.

    i don't know man, I just can't believe it

I will say if Kirkland doesn't go to Miami and then doesn't pick FSU, Trickett needs to be fired already

    Enough is enough

  • I'm thinking Demarcus "Honey Thunder" Robinson for the Gators, especially in light of Matt Jones's emergence at the end of last year. The Gators WR corps is below-average, not just by SEC standards, but FBS standards. They needed a kid who can come in and start right away. I think honey Thunder's that guy.

Agree with this. Driskel may not be amazing, but he doesn't have much help from his WR's.
