The Auburn Guy said...
Mike Hampton of the Atlanta Braves.
This guy belongs in the discussion. Had a couple great seasons pitching, got PAID. Massive contract, and then he got hurt, and hurt again. He basically rode the bench for ATL while they blew millions on him that could have been utilized elsewhere.

Im not saying he is or isn't successful
That all depends on what you define as success, if its making money then sure he is doing a bang up job
If its making sure the game is unrecognizable in 10 years, and making sure that ex-players receive little to no benefits while he is stacking millions of dollars... then he is the most successful man on this planet
Personally, I think he is grossly over-paid and is doing nothing more than turning americas best sport into a grab ass game for females and fantasy football nerds

He's actually protecting the league from itself and players/fans fail to recognize it.
The fines and rule changes are preemptive measures because players are blaming the league for hurting each other. If they can't protect themselves, the league has to, but in order to do so there has to be a league.
You can't blame the league for the poor condition of former players on one hand then blame the league for trying to minimize the ability of current players to put themselves in such poor condition on the other.

The job duties ? you mean like standing on the field for super bowls, and when your legs get tired heading on up to the owners booth where you can grab ass with celebrities and ex-players as you chow down on a steak from Mortons ?
Yeah, you should get 30 million a year for these strenuous activities
Sounds reasonable, Im sure Goodell is working extra hard and doesn't have " people/employees " that do all the leg work
No doubt he is busting his ass 24/7, and deserves every penny

Damn dude. Relax for a change. Goodell is doing his job and apparently performing pretty well, otherwise, he doesn't make that kind of money. Is 29.4 million too much to pay someone, hell yes it is but if his contract is laid out that way then it is what it is. He's also done more to make the game safer (maybe too much so) but since he is the residing NFL commish then he is at the center of all the former players and lawyers cross hairs.
Now, do I feel bad for the players suffering from the concussions, hell yes I do. Did they know the possibilities of that happening before they ever set foot on the field for an NFL team? Yep.

So eliminating the helmet to helmet hits (amongst many other safety rule changes) isn't making the game safer? Goodell is at least trying to make that happen (something no former commish has ever done). It's not Goodells fault that the NFL's current and past players weren't and aren't taught the proper form of tackling. Too many players in the game today have no damn clue how to wrap and tackle. They all want to throw a shoulder or helmet in there looking for the big hit that will get them on Sportscenter. The players themselves have brought all this on. Too many people are taking the cheap, bandwagon way of piling on Goodell because he's the man in charge. It's just like the rest of the country, whine, cry, bitch and moan and blame someone else.

So people that work in possibly dangerous environments, like say roofers or electricians, are just up shvt's creek?
Of course football is potentially dangerous, but for the guys that really need medical assistance, it should be there for them. Nothing more.
As for Rog, he's like a lawyer for the mob. A puppet imo.

The players have retirement packages just like a lot of other industries. Don't fall into the trap like some others that believe once the players retires or can't compete well enough to make a team are left abandoned. I doubt it's that way. Maybe instead of buying cars, jewelry, guns etc etc while they are still earning a very good paycheck they should be smart enough to look at life after football.

You're still the biggest candy ass troll on this network. Always have been, always will be. You get owned and revert back to your notes of who upset poor little nova and try and change the subject. Suck it up buttercup. If you can't carry on a discussion and stick to the topic, which you have rarely ever done, then maybe you should take up knitting or something more suited to your "softer" side.
