I am looking forward to it coming out on DVD since I unfortunately did not have time to see it in the theater.

Watch the 80s version right before you watch the new one.

    I hated that movie.

It bored me to death. There was barely any action in the movie and it had too many plot holes to list.

I love the 80's version and watch it at least once a year (part of my Halloween horror marathon). Funny thing is that right before they announced the making of the new The Thing I had commented to my hubby that The Thing would be one of the best movies ever made if they had had access to CG. I was really disappointed that the new Thing got lukewarm reviews.

I have no interest in seeing it again if that makes you feel better.

It didn't really interest me either but the hubby and I ran out of options at Blockbuster and gave it a try. Not worth the time imo.

  • Speaking of sci-fi have you guys ever seen Sunshine? It was directed Danny Boyle who directed 28 Days and Slumdog Millionaire.

I think it is a very underrated movie and I love the version of adagio they used in the movie.

What are the movies that you guys watch on Halloween? I need to get myself a tradition.

I was aware of the reviews before I went to see it. My friend and I are both fans of the Carpenter version and we both were surprised with how much we liked it (or didn't hate it, rather). It might not have a spot in my dvd collection but I enjoyed it for what it was.

Though, people that didn't see the other version will not see a lot of the symmetry that made the new one fun for us.

You'll love the ending credits of the new one.

No. I believe that they had a preview of the movie on the Pandorum DVD. The hubby and I wanted to see it but have not been able to find it at our Blockbuster. Yes I know that Blockbuster is for us old folks that are technologically impaired.

Is that where the sun is dying out so they send astronauts to try and save it?

The Blockbuster in my area closed about two years ago.

I love Sunshine. Huge fan of Boyle as well. And yes that version gives me chill bumps.

Have you guys seen Trick r Treat? It is not a great movie or scary at all.

I do like it because it explores some of the lore surrounding Halloween. Halloween is by far my favorite holiday.

  • Hmmm.....let me think.
    Halloween (of course)
    The Thing
    Alien
    The Chainsaw Massacre
    Nightmare on Elmstreet
The Lost Boys (yes it is cheesy but I still love it)
    Friday the 13th
Christine, Cujo (I love old Stephen King)
    Thirty Days of Night
    Trick or Treat
    Night of the Living Dead
    Psycho

I know that I am missing some but we mostly watch old horror films. Most of the new ones are just not as good.

Solid list. I love the Lost Boys. It may be cheesy but still better than the crap that passes for a vampire movie these days.
