  • Netflix doesn't get many major releases on instant watch - when they do they are generally a month after the dvd release date.

  • The basketball slate looked very meh today so I watched a couple of things today. (looks like I made a good call considering every game has been a blowout)

    (*SPOILER ALERT*)

Skyfall: I'll preface by saying I'm a huge fan of the old films, but I thought Skyfall absolutely owned from the very start. The opening scene seguing into Adele was so dirty. The guys behind the reboot basically said the hell with the Vespa story line for this one, we're just going to make a vintage/bad ass Bond film set in modern times for the die-hards of the original series. I love the little references to the old films...the "for your eyes only" comment, the Aston-Martin & the final scene is shot for shot, word for word the opening scene from Dr. No. Bardem was really good as the villain as well.

Zero Dark Thirty: Really solid. The big scene at the end definitely drug out a bit though and had some ish happen that never would in real life. The part where the shooter said "Osama" to lure him out of the room was laughable IMO. Other than that though it was solid like I said earlier & Chastain was fantastic. I haven't seen SLP yet but it's hard to imagine how Jennifer Lawrence beat her out for that category. I'm obsessed with JLaw too so that's saying a lot.

I said it awhile ago that Skyfall was top 5 bond films for sure. Probably even trended up since then. Not a person to overreact to a film I've recently seen either.

ZD30 was better than Argo for sure and Chastain should have won Best Actress.

No. We unfortunately have fallen way behind on new releases. We used to have Blockbuster....yes, I know, outdated and expensive. However we could see new releases the day of their release. The Blockbuster near us closed and now we have Netflix. Seems good for older movies and TV show seasons but not so much for new releases. Just how long does it normally take Netflix to upload new releases? I am still waiting for Argo, Sinister, and The Master.

What do you guys use to watch Netflix? If you can use Amazon Instant Video that is a great way to watch new movies.

Yeah I'm not either. Ralph Fiennes & Albert Finney were great casting choices for subsidiary roles. Also, I'd be cool if Adele did every Bond song for the rest of this series. She absolutely nailed Skyfall.

Yeah I'll wait until I see Silver Linings Playbook to cast a final verdict but Chastain awfully good not to have taken the Oscar. She is bangin' too. I love those redheads, maan. (Wooderson voice)

Yes you can. That is how I rent all my movies. They get them as soon as the come out and you don't have to return them. Best way to rent.

Yeah I just googled it. I can pay to rent new releases on Xfinity as well. I really want something that allows me to pay one monthly fee with access to all movies, including new releases. That is what we had with Blockbuster......$36 a month for unlimited movies and games- two at a time. We exchanged movies at least every 3 days so having to pay to rent them individually would get pricey. I am so pissed that our Blockbuster closed.

That is a pretty good deal if you rented a lot.

  • Watched Flight last night. I'm biased because I've got a major man crush on Denzel, but I thought it was good.

John Goodman's character was so classic. He made the movie.

I did not read the book and therefore have nothing to compare to, but I will probably spend the money to go see the movie.

The book was awesome because they made it so realistic. (I promise I'm not a crazy person). But they made it semi-believable and the zombies completely different. None of this running jumping stuff they are doing in the previews.

I was excited when I heard they Were making this movie.

After seeing the previews I have no desire to see it. Sort of tired of zombies anyway.

Yea. When someone said something like "At Oscar time people are going to be wondering whether a movie about Zombies could win best picture." I fapped.

If they would have followed the book more closely I could have seen it at least potentially having a better chance. This is just out there to make money.

Surprised Max Brooks signed off on this.

Yes. I watched the first one but had to DVD the one last night. First one was not too bad but the previews that they showed were out there. Should be interesting to see what direction they take with the making of Norman Bates, the killer.

I am huge fan of Hitchcock so that will at least get me to try the show. I heard the first episode was solid.

I got this Hitchcock collection at Target for $5 with around 20 of his movies. The early ones that aren't quite as popular but still an awesome buy.
